PUBG Wants to Return to India, Enters Through Microsoft?
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or commonly known as PUBG Mobile, plans to return to India after previously deciding to leave at the end of last October. PUBG was one of 118 Chinese apps banned by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in September.
As quoted by from TechCrunch, PUBG Corporation’s parent company, Krafton has a global agreement with Microsoft. This collaboration with Microsoft includes the PUBG Mobile game which will be part of Microsoft Azure. For your information, Microsoft currently has three data centers in India.
According to an unidentified source, PUBG Corporation is also in contact with well-known streamers in India about their plans to return to India before the end of this year. PUBG Mobile was played by around 50 million users in the country, before India banned the app from China. The ban is in the aftermath of a conflict between the Chinese and Indian militaries over the Himalayan border dispute.
PUBG Mobile game in India published by Tencent, was on Tencent Cloud servers prior to the ban. Some time ago PUBG Corporation cut off publishing with Tencent in India, which resulted in the game being no longer playable in India. The Indian government is concerned about privacy and national security regarding the use of Chinese companies’ apps.
Shortly after the proposed ban on PUBG, Bangalore-based studio nCore Games announced it would launch a similar battle royale game called Fearless And United – Guards or FAU: G.
