MPL Gets New Funds Injecting IDR 1.3 Trillion

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The esports and mobile gaming platform Mobile Premier League (MPL) has just received a new injection of funds worth USD 95 million or around Rp. 1.3 trillion from various companies. One of the goals is to help gamers to show their skills.

“As our existence and expansion grows, this new funding will help us focus on our main value proposition, namely as a strong gaming platform by bringing the best features to gamers, and adding the best esports games to MPL,” said the Co-Founder and MPL CEO Sai Srinivas in his official statement Thursday (5/2/2021).

MPL believes that the esports community is currently growing rapidly. This is the perfect time to introduce games made in India and Indonesia to the world and help gamers to showcase their skills.

The MPL gaming platform is now worth USD 945 million (around Rp. 13 trillion) and has been played by more than 60 million users in India and more than 3.5 million users in Indonesia. With more than 50 games divided into several categories for Android and iOS (only available in India), where more than 28 game developers have collaborated with MPL.

This new injection of funds, said Sai, will initially be used by MPL to expand its esports game portfolio and will also host more national and international esports tournaments. MPL will also use the funds for international expansion this year.

The imposition of lockdowns in several countries in 2021, triggered by the pandemic, provides an opportunity for the esports industry to develop rapidly in the world and especially in Asia. Through MPL’s participation in the esports President’s Cup in early 2021, for the casual gaming category, MPL managed to gather more than 50,000 participants from teenagers to adults spread across the nation. MPL also provides a prize of IDR 225,000,000 for the winner.

“We are delighted to partner with the MPL team and support MPL’s continued growth. As an industry leader in the gaming market, we believe that MPL will continue to innovate and continue to drive the world of esports,” said Kanush Chaudhary, Managing Director, Composite Capital.
