MDL Season 2 Participates in Building Indonesia's Mobile Legends Esports Ecosystem

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Moonton as a game developer consistently continues to hold the prestigious Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament. Spread across several countries, the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) proved to be the most popular esports tournament last April, to be precise at the MPL ID Season 5.

In order to build the Mobile Legends esports ecosystem in Indonesia, Moonton presents a new concept that only exists in Indonesia, namely the Mobile Legends Development League (MDL). Victim Esports is a team that has successfully won the MDL Season 1 title with its young talents. The presence of MDL itself aims to build player regeneration and keep the esports game ecosystem Mobile Legends: Bang Bang ongoing. Many stars have colored the esports event in MPL, but the matches at MDL are no less interesting.

Moonton’s contribution also does not stop for the benefit of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang game, but also increases the interest and development of the ecosystem in the Indonesian esports industry. Currently, the esports industry in Indonesia cannot be underestimated, especially the Mobile Legends game and the Indonesian MPL tournament.

First, the presence of events organized by Moonton (MPL & MDL) has made Indonesia’s name even more fragrant at the world level esports event, even being recognized as the best esports tournament in the world.

MDL Season 2 itself is an important concept considering that esports stars and athletes must continue to have new players. However, the thing that distinguishes this season from last season is the tournament system which is held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Moonton is committed to continuing to present Mobile Legends tournaments to support the advancement of the esports ecosystem in Indonesia. Not only that, from the ongoing tournaments, it is hoped that it will be able to bring Indonesia’s name to be recognized in the realm of world-level esports.

The MDL event itself has only lasted 2 seasons, compared to the MPL which has lasted for 6 seasons. However, MDL Season 2 has attracted the interest of several sponsors, one of which is Nimo TV. Sponsors also get different benefits, including branding on websites, studios, to appearing in games during tournaments.

Moonton also hopes that with the presence of MDL Season 2, there will be new stars ex-MDL players who will strengthen the big teams in MPL next season. Success here is not only able to survive, but they can show off, and compete fiercely with MPL stars. MDL is able to become a proving ground for young and talented roster so that later they can compete in MPL. As the name suggests, MDL is here to ‘develop’ or develop new talents.

As for the number of viewers, MDL is still far from MPL. The MPL event continues to break records for the largest number of spectators and become the most popular esports tournament.

In fact, the MPL Invitational 4 Nations Cup also got a high stage by becoming the most popular esports tournament for the months of June and July. However, MDL Season 2, which has only been running until Week 2, still has the potential to entertain the gamers community and esports activists in Indonesia.

The biggest change from MDL compared to last season is the number of teams competing. Previously, Season 1 brought 12 teams to compete, but now MDL Season 2 has changed the lineup of participants to 11 teams.

In terms of matches, both MDL and MPL have adapted the online tournament system due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Can MDL Season 2 bring back surprises and excitement like RRQ Sena’s victory over EVOS Esports at El Clasico Week 1? Or, will there be a new power that dominates and is able to climb the top of the standings?

Keep watching the MDL Season 2 match next week on 31 August – 2 September 2021.
