Japan Breaks World's Fastest Internet Record at 319 Tbps
GAMEFINITY.ID, Singkawang – The internet network has now become one of the needs that must be owned by some people. The reason is, during this pandemic, some people need fast and stable internet to work from home.
Now joint researchers from the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) in Japan recently broke the record for the fastest internet in the world.
On their occasion at the International Conference on Optical Fiber Communications some time ago, they demonstrated internet testing and succeeded in producing internet as fast as 319 Tbps. This speed managed to beat the previous NICT record which was only as fast as 178 Tbps in 2021.
The record achieved by the NICT is many times faster than the usual home internet. According to the NICT, home internet currently only reaches speeds of 10 Gbps.
NICT reveals they only use a regular 4 core internet cable, but the secret lies in the additional technology created by NICT researchers.
From the 4-core optical cable, they transmit data signals through separate lines using a method called wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM). Then to increase the speed and distance of the data, they use a unique “frequency band” that is rarely used in ordinary optics.
But even though the internet is very fast, it’s impossible to realize it on the latest internet. Because 4-core and 1-core cables have the same diameter, it is better to integrate existing cables than to overhaul the entire existing network infrastructure.
