How to Remove Ads on Xiaomi MIUI 12 Cellphones Easily

Xiaomi is one of the largest mobile phone brands in Indonesia which is known for the features offered at quite competitive prices. The majority of Xiaomi phones run on Android 11 and with the latest interface MIUI 12. The interface from this company comes with some important features, but unfortunately also contains ads that annoy users. When launching MIUI 12, Xiaomi did mention how to get rid of ads with one tap which is capable of disabling system-wide ads, but that feature is not present in the global version. Well, if you are a MIUI 12 user and want to get rid of annoying ads on your phone, here’s how to do it.

How to Remove Xiaomi MIUI 12 Ads with Disabling MSA

The first step to get rid of ads on MIUI 12, we have to know the source of the ads itself. One of the ad sources is MSA or MIUI System Ads, this system is one of the most common reasons for annoying ads to appear.

To disable it:

Open the Settings app.
Navigate to Password & security > Authorization & revocation. Here you have to disable msa.
After this, scroll down and disable GetApps as well.
You’ll get a 10-second warning message, asking if you’re sure you want to do this.
After the countdown, press Revoke. If it fails on the first try, try again until it dies.
Even if you reboot your phone, MSA should still be disabled.

Although the above steps will disable most of the ads, we can still do other things to make sure the ads are completely gone.

In the same Password & security sub-menu, go to Privacy.
Then tap Ad services and turn off Personalized ad recommendations. This will essentially turn off data collection to provide you with relevant ads.

Turn off ads from the Downloads app

Open the Downloads app.
Tap menu > Settings.
Disable the button for Show recommended content. You will get a prompt here too, just select OK.

Turn off ads from File Manager app

Open the File Manager application.
Tap the menu at the top left.
Go to About > turn off Recommendations.

turn off Ads from the Music app

Open the Music app.
Go to menu > Services and settings Select Advanced settings > Accept recommendations. You can also turn off other recommendations here such as Online recommendations on startup and Song recommendations. For the record, disabling this will only turn off data collection from this app.
