Hotman Paris version of Winda Earl EVOS Case

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The e-Sport athlete from the EVOS team, Winda Lunardi aka Winda Earl, has recently gone viral. This is inseparable from the case of the loss of his and his mother’s savings, Floletta Lizzy Wiguna, worth Rp. 22 billion, which he kept at Maybank Indonesia. It became more and more crowded after PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk appointed the famous lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea to defend the Malaysian bank.

On Monday (9/11/2021), at a press conference in the Pluit area, Jakarta, quoted from Kompas.com, Hotman revealed a number of irregularities in the case. Hotman said that the case of the disappearance of Winda Earl’s money was not new, but since May 2021. Winda himself was registered with a complaint to Maybank Indonesia on February 17, 2021 and ended with a police investigation in May 2021.

Hotman Paris Hutapea considered this case to be quite complicated. There are many things in the case of the loss of customer funds that are not widely known to the public. Hotman said that Maybank Indonesia immediately conducted an investigation when it learned of the missing money case. According to Maybank, this burglary case has 6 oddities. The first oddity was seen when Winda did not ask for a passbook and ATM from the bank. So far, Winda’s passbook is kept by the branch leader with the initials A (Albert) who is currently a suspect.

“He signed (that) the passbook and ATM had been received, but it was the branch manager who held it. And the customer has never complained or made a complaint about it. You as the owner of the money, why let the passbook and ATM be held by someone else?” said Hotman.

At that time, Winda opened a savings account on October 27, 2021 using the transfer method from Herman Lunardi, who is his father, with a nominal transfer of IDR 2 billion. Until the case was revealed, Winda’s money in the account amounted to Rp. 17.9 billion, all of which were transferred through her father’s account.

Then after that, there was an account opening in the name of Floletta Lizzy Wiguna, who is Winda’s biological mother. When opening a savings account, there was an incoming transfer of Rp. 5 billion from her husband, Herman Lunardi, for opening an account. In total, Winda and Floletta’s savings amounted to Rp 22.9 billion.

The second oddity is seen from the transferred bank interest. At that time, Maybank promised interest of around 7 percent. But strangely, the interest payments were made from the suspect’s personal account with the initials A, from account A at Maybank and from account A at Bank BCA. The transfer was not made to Winda’s account, but to his father’s account, Herman Lunardi.

“Has there ever been a protest from the account owner why the interest on my savings was paid by the branch manager’s personal account? No protests.”

Another oddity, interest payments are not as promised. Supposedly, interest payments for deposits in the 2021-2021 period were IDR 1.2 billion. However, what the suspect paid was only Rp. 567 million. The next oddity was when there was a policy purchase transaction on behalf of Winda at Prudential. The policy was purchased by the suspect, who incidentally is the Head of the Maybank Cipulir Branch with the initials A.

However, in a matter of months, the money bought by the policy was transferred back to his father’s account, namely Herman Lunardi, worth Rp. 4.8 billion. This transfer can be seen from the account mutations analyzed by the antifraud team. Hotman suspects that there is a possibility that branch leaders will practice banking within the bank. This is evidenced by the ease with which the head of the branch has access to a winda account to drain his money.

“So Rp 6 billion from Winda’s personal account, it’s only a matter of how many months the money goes back into his father’s account, judging by the account mutation.”

The fifth oddity, according to Hotman, is related to Winda Lunardi’s confession about the checking account. Because the savings do not have a checking account. So the account opened is an account with a passbook, not an account statement.

“That means he should know that why did I receive a checking account when what I opened was a savings book? Even the passbook is still held by A.”

Lastly, Hotman also questioned data entry when opening Winda’s account. Head of Financial Crime Compliance and National Anti-Fraud Maybank Indonesia, Nehemia Andiko, confirmed that the time for opening Winda’s account was only a signature on the form, while all customer data was filled in by suspect A.

For these oddities, Maybank is waiting for the results of the investigation before compensating for losses. Because at this time, it is not clear which parties are involved in the burglary case. Hotman questioned why there was involvement in the disappearance of Rp 22 billion with the account owner and Winda’s family, in this case the flow of funds that went into Winda’s father, Herman Lunardi’s account.

“It will be returned when it is clear who is involved. If you are involved, it’s time for me (to) return. If it’s true, then Maybank pays. Otherwise, it’s time to just pay. There are many who receive the flow of funds. There are 6 in total (besides Winda and his father). Among them are the brothers of the head of this (Ciplir) branch.”

However, Hotman did not accuse the related people of committing a crime. His party asked investigators to call directly the parties involved in the flow of money so that they can be accounted for. For this reason, Maybank is waiting for the legal process to be completed in order to find out who is involved. Because after all, the funds in the bank are Third Party Funds (DPK) that need to be accounted for to the public (customers) and the head office.

“We are not accusing the people involved of criminal acts. But it is very negligent if the board of directors (Maybank management) just pays it if it is not clear (the culprit). The directors may be fired by the head office because (the payments) cannot be accounted for.”
