Held in Singapore, Total Free Fire World Series 2021 Prizes Set a Record

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore (FFWS 2021 SG) tournament will soon be held in Singapore in May 2021. Garena as the tournament organizer offers a total prize of 2 million USD or around IDR 28 billion. This figure is the largest number in the history of the Free Fire esports competition.

FFWS 2021 SG marks the beginning of the return of the normal Free Fire international Esports tournament, after being held online for the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We know that the World Series is highly anticipated by players and fans so we are working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure we can continue to present the best Free Fire tournament. Safety has been and will continue to be our biggest priority when carrying out this event,” said Garena’s Global Esports Manager Justin Lye in a written statement, Friday (18/3/2021).

FFWS 2021 SG will start from the Play-ins round on May 22. The finals will be held on May 29. This schedule itself has been postponed, after it was originally planned to be held April 24 (Play-Ins) and May 1 (Finals).

A total of 22 teams from 14 regions will compete in Singapore and fight for the Free Fire world title. The Play-Ins round will pit the 12 teams that finished first or second in their respective regional tournaments.

The top two teams will later join the 10 best teams in the world who are waiting for the Finals. The whole team will fight in 6 rounds on 3 maps. Each needs to fight to be the last one standing, where points are calculated based on ranking in each round and number of kills.

The World Series is the biggest and most iconic Esports tournament of the Free Fire game. The inaugural tournament, Free Fire World Series 2021 has been watched by more than 2 million viewers at the same time. Esports Charts calls the audience a world record for a mobile game Esports tournament.

Even though it is held offline, Garena ensures that all activities will run according to strict health protocols and applicable travel policies. Garena has received support from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to host the FFWS 2021 SG. Garena also collaborates with various industry experts and organizations, including the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA).

“We are proud to be able to support Garena in organizing FFWS 2021 SG, one of the leading esports tournaments in the world. The return of the event testifies to Singapore’s growing reputation as an esports destination and our ability to safely host the event,” said Executive Director Attractions, Entertainment and Tourism Concept Development for the Singapore Tourism Board, Jean Ng.

“We look forward to welcoming all eligible teams to Singapore, and working closely with the organizers towards a safe and successful event.”
