God of War Save Game Data Can Be Transferred from PS4 to PS5

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Sony confirmed that save game data from God of War and God of War 3 Remastered can be transferred from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5. SIE Santa Monica Studio also says that God of War can be played at up to 60fps on next-gen consoles. The studio recently also revealed plans to release a sequel to God of War for PS5 in 2021.

Unlike previous series inspired by Greek mythology, God of War (2021) is based on Norse (Scandinavian) mythology. The game was critically acclaimed by winning multiple Game of the Year awards, as well as achieving commercial success with record sales of over 10 million copies.

Previously, several PS4 games have been updated in recent weeks including God of War and God of War 3 Remastered. This is considered a preparation for backward compatibility support on the PS5. The Last of Us: Remastered is reported to have drastically improved its loading times with the latest upgrade.

Sony recently explained how game transfer and game saves work between PS4 and PS5. However, transferring PS4 save data to PS5 versions of the same game is up to the respective game developer, which means that not all PS4 games can be transferred directly to PS5.

Insomniac Games confirmed that the Spider-Man Miles Morales save game data can be transferred by players of this game on the PS4 to PS5 console. But cross-generational saves can’t be done by Marvel’s Spider-Man and the Remastered PS5 version. Yakuza: Like a Dragon also doesn’t support transferring save data from PS4 to PS5, nor does Dirt 5.
