EA holds Codemasters, F1 2021 Pre-order Price Increases Almost 3x

GAMEFINITY.ID, Purworejo – For racing game lovers, Codemasters is a developer known for its racing game franchises such as F1, Dirt, and Grid. With this successful franchise, EA finally acquired Codemasters with a value of 1.2 million USD or around 17 trillion Rupiah which was completed last February.

With the acquisition of Codemasters by EA, many fans are worried that EA, which was previously known for its negative business practices, will affect the games owned by Codemasters. For games that were released before being acquired by EA, it may not change, but fans’ concerns are true for the newest game, F1 2021.

In Steam F1 2021 page In Indonesia, the standard edition version is listed at a price of 700 thousand, an increase of almost 3 times from F1 2021 which previously cost 250 thousand. This is not only happening in the Indonesian region, but also in several other countries.

The biggest price increase occurred in the Argentine region, where F1 2021 which was previously priced at 649 Argentine Pesos to 3599 Argentine Pesos in F1 2021, increased more than 5 times. The price increase did not occur in the United States region because the previous series was already expensive.

This price increase has made many fans angry and in the worst case it will affect the sales of the 2021 F1 game which will not be as successful as the previous series. The same thing can happen in other franchises like Dirt and Grid considering that EA is in full control of Codemasters.

Previously, Codemasters had unveiled a bunch of new features that will be introduced to F1 2021 including a new story mode called “Braking Point.” Career mode will also receive some new changes including the addition of online multiplayer.

F1 2021 is currently available for pre-order on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and will release on July 17th.
