Delayed 8 Months, Super Nintendo World Osaka Finally Opens Next Thursday

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – After eight months of delay, the Super Nintendo World theme park attraction in Osaka, Japan will finally open next week. This was announced by Universal Studios Japan, which will open the theme park on Thursday (18/3/2021).

The Osaka-based attraction will be open to the general public. A number of tests must be taken by invited guests and special ticket holders who are allowed to enter.

The opening of the amusement park will follow strict health and safety guidelines. USJ will limit the number of visitors allowed into Nintendo World, with numbered tickets and specific entry times. After opening in Japan, Super Nintendo World is scheduled to open at Universal parks in Orlando, Hollywood and Singapore.

The Florida version of Super Nintendo World has reportedly been delayed until 2025. Meanwhile, construction of the Hollywood version of the theme park will continue and will likely open sooner. This park is said to have a smaller area scale than other amusement parks.

Nintendo World Japan will emphasize the interactivity of its visitor experience, with each visitor using a wearable bracelet in conjunction with a mobile phone app to gamify the park. As pointed out in last year’s Nintendo Direct, various keys are hidden around the Super Nintendo World, which players must solve in order to obtain puzzles. Like by punching POW blocks in time with moving shells to get keys.

The theme park’s main attractions are the rides based on Yoshi and Super Mario Kart. Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge is billed as “the ultimate Mario Kart experience”, with AR technology that brings “favorite Nintendo characters to life like never before”. According to other reports, Universal has started construction of a new Donkey Kong area in Osaka.
