CD Projekt Red apologizes and is ready to refund Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 and Xbox One gamers

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – CD Projekt Red (CDPR) apologizes for not featuring Cyberpunk 2077 running on last generation consoles (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) before the game was released. The developer said it would provide compensation by refunding gamers for digital and physical copies of the game.

In a statement issued Monday (12/14/2021), CD Projekt Red acknowledged that they “should have paid more attention” to improving performance on last-gen consoles and promised to improve the overall experience through future updates.

Cyberpunk 2077’s performance on PS4 base and Xbox One has been criticized by fans and media alike since its release last week, with Digital Foundry analysis calling performance on the PS4 base console “terrible” and “messy”. On Monday, CD Projekt said they would release a new update in the next seven days that targets bugs, crashes, and performance.

After Christmas, two major patches will be released, one in January and another in February. The developer claims that these two updates will fix the “most prominent issues” that players are experiencing on the last generation of consoles and bring them closer to the PC experience.

“First of all, we would like to start by apologizing to you for not showing the game on the last generation of consoles prior to launch and, as a result not allowing you to make a more informed decision about your purchase. We should pay more attention to make it play better on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” the company said in a statement.

CD Projekt says it will notify players of the content of each patch before it is released. They admit they won’t make games in this last generation look like they’re running on high-spec PCs or next-generation consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S), but will approach the experience.

Regarding refunds, CDPR confirmed to gamers who want to get their money back for their digital or physical copy of Cyberpunk. This is part of CDPR’s commitment to always make game buyers satisfied with their purchases.

“We’d appreciate it if you gave us a chance, but if you’re not happy with the game on your console and don’t want to wait for an update, you can choose to return your copy. For copies purchased digitally, please use the respective PSN or Xbox refund system.

The developer says its help email will be available for a week until December 21, 2021.

“For the physical version, first try to get a refund at the store where you bought the game. If this is not possible, please contact us at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com and we will do our best to assist you.”
