CD Projekt Red Adds Epilepsy Warning for Cyberpunk Players 2077

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – CD Projekt Red added an epilepsy warning early in Cyberpunk 2077, after it was revealed that the game could potentially carry triggers that could cause seizures in people susceptible to the disease. Earlier this week, Liana Ruppert of Game Informer said she suffered one major attack while playing Cyberpunk 2077, due to various in-game visual effects.

At release, Cyberpunk 2077 did not include an in-game epilepsy warning and it was unclear how the offending scenes passed through the platform holder’s certification process. Following Ruppert’s report, British charity Epilepsy Action called for an urgent update to Cyberpunk 2077 to make the game more secure, stating that “an early disclaimer warning is insufficient.”

CD Projekt said it would add an in-game epilepsy warning and was investigating a “more permanent solution” to the problem. As Washington Post reporter Elise Favis found, quoted by Eurogamer, the in-game warning has now been added to the PC version of the title, although it hasn’t been included on the console version yet.

“WARNING: RISK OF SEIZES. In this game, you’ll find various visual effects (such as flashing lights during a series of brain movements) that can trigger seizures or loss of consciousness in some people. If you or someone in your family has ever exhibited symptoms of epilepsy with flashing lights, consult your doctor before playing Cyberpunk 2077. If you or someone you know experiences any of the above symptoms while playing, stop immediately and seek medical attention.”
