Capcom Launches New Resident Evil Portal Next Year

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Capcom plans to consolidate the Resident Evil universe, by creating a new portal site that will launch in 2021. 2021 also marks the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, where Capcom promises more surprises in the coming year.

When Resident Evil launched on the PlayStation in 1996, Capcom executives likely didn’t expect the survival horror game to become a franchise that would extend from generation to generation. RE’s success made the game also adapted to the big screen, to become an attraction at Universal Studios Japan.

All of those expansions have resulted in a number of websites promoting various aspects of the Resident Evil Universe. Quoted by GAMEFINITY.ID from Gamerant, now Capcom wants to consolidate several of these websites into one portal.

Starting early in the new year, five different Resident Evil-focused websites will be pulled into the new Resident Evil Portal site in an effort to simplify the way fans access the RE world. This includes Resident Evil.net, several Japanese Resident Evil sites, and the Resident Evil Ambassador Program.

This portal promises to be the place where fans can find out all about Resident Evil. The portal site will also become a hub for social media connections, allowing fans to share stats and connect with other gamers.

Fans are now looking forward to the latest developments in Resident Evil 8 (Village), which is scheduled for release next year, as well as other RE projects such as the remake of RE4, the Netflix adaptation series Infinite Darkness, as well as rumors regarding the Switch Resident Evil game featuring Rebecca Chambers.
