Among Us Becomes the Most Downloaded Game in 2021
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The online multiplayer social deduction mobile game, Among Us became the most downloaded game worldwide in 2021. Data released by Apptopia, quoted from The Verge by ANTARA, Among Us bagged 41 million downloads in the US and 264 million downloads worldwide.
This figure beats big games, such as PUBG Mobile and Roblox, which both remain in the top 10 games with the highest grossing this year. Despite being released in 2021, “Among Us” did not gain popularity until last year.
The multiplayer online game, where crew members of a spaceship work together to complete tasks and find con artists before they are killed, was a hit on Twitch during the pandemic. In November, nearly half a billion people played the game, which is available on mobile, Nintendo Switch and PC. The game is also planned for release for Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
Among Us was created by the InnerSloth team, an independent developer with four employees. This game became so popular that the developers delayed the sequel to continue developing the original version.
