A PC Modder Turns a PS2 Console Into a Mini PC

GAMEFINITY.ID, Purworejo – The PlayStation 2 is the best-selling console of all time with sales reaching 159 million units worldwide. Although it is now rare to play it, the memories made with the console cannot be forgotten by many people, including WiP PC Modz creator John Patrick Wong.

If most of us only keep the PS2 console in the closet as a memory, it’s a different case for this PC Modder. Wong turned the PS2 console into a mini PC which of course can still play PS2 games.

Wong made this PS2 PC because the concept is interesting and reminds him of his childhood memories. With this PS2 PC project he can also use it to design a mini PC that can be easily carried from one place to another.

The specifications brought in this project are quite capable considering the narrow body size of the PS2. It uses a Ryzen 5 2400G processor housed on a B450i AORUS Pro Wifi motherboard.

Then for ram he uses 16GB TeamGroup T-Force Night Hawk with storage using a 250GB TeamGroup T-Force Delta R SSD. Because he doesn’t use a dedicated VGA, Wong only uses a 300w FlexGURU FSP power supply.

According to him, the most difficult thing in making this PS2 PC is the matter of cable management because it needs to be arranged so that everything fits in the narrow PS2 body.

Wong designed this mini PC as a multifunctional device even though it was not designed to play the latest AAA games considering that it only uses the VGA integrated Vega 11. Instead, Wong will use this mini PC for light use and relive his good memories by playing PS2 games through an emulator.

How about you, are you interested in making a mini PC with a unique concept like this?
