5 of the oldest video games in history

GAMEFINITY.ID, Bandung City — Technological development is a very fast and passing thing to be felt. Who would have thought, video games themselves have been around for almost 50 years and millions of video game products have come out until now.

Maybe some of you have played video games from the golden age of PS1, SNES, or even SEGA. But don’t be proud and want to say “kids today won’t feel” first. In addition to the previously mentioned consoles, there are still older games or consoles. Are you curious about anything? If so, please read this article further.

5. Magnavox Odyssey (1972)

First release on September 1972, the Magnavox Odyssey became the first home console ever. This idea was first conceived by Ralph H. Baer and he has spent many years with his relatives just to make a prototype of this console.

Some of the games available on this console include: Ski, Simon Says, Hockey, Roulette, Haunted House, Analogic, States, Table Tennis, Cat and Mouse, and Submarine.

4. Galaxy Games (1971)

This game was created by Bill Pitts and Hugh Tuck at Stanford University in September 1971. That was when Syzygy Engineering released an arcade game called Computer Space.

To play Galaxy Game, you need to pay as much as 10 cents yourself or 25 cents for 3 players. This game was well received and quite popular by many students of its time.

But unfortunately, Pitts and Tuck failed to make it into a commercial video game because they were too focused on improving the game and not being accompanied by the business side.

3. Computer Space (1971)

Computer Space was the first space arcade game ever created and the first arcade game to become a commercial video game. This game was developed in 1971 by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney who later became the founders of Atari.

This game is a derivative of the computer video game called Spacewar! which was released in 1962 and became the first game to be played with coins in the world.

2. Spacewar! (1962)

Of all the previous lists, Spacewar! is probably the most influential video game. In addition, this game is also very important because it is considered the first video game in the records of the US Library of Congress (LC).

This game was very popular among the programmer community around 1960 and has inspired the first commercial arcade game, namely Computer Space.

Spacewar! developed by Steve Russell with the help of Martin Graetz and Wayne Wiitanen. The game was later created for the DEC PDP-1 computer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). After the game was released, students and workers from the university developed this game further.

1. Tennis for Two (1958)

Tennis for Two is often considered the oldest video game in recorded world history. This game was created on October 18, 1958 by an American physicist named William Higinbotham.

Unlike the others, Tennis for Two is a game that was deliberately created purely for entertainment purposes rather than academic research in universities.

So, which video game do you find the most interesting?
