Virtus.Pro Dominates The Summit 6, Defeat Strong Teams Like Wings Gaming and OG

Ahead of the Dota 2 Boston Major which will be held in two weeks, several participating teams who have arrived in America first participated in The Summit 6 tournament held by Beyond The Summit. Unexpectedly, in this tournament, Virtus.Pro, who was present at the Boston Major and also The Summit 6 through the qualifying route, won the tournament which took place last weekend.

The tournament itself was attended by eight top teams, namely OG, Virtus.Pro, Digital Chaos (DC), Evil Geniuses (EG), Team NP, Wings Gaming, EHOME, and Team Faceless. All of them are participants in the Boston Major and are guaranteed to meet again at the tournament. The Summit this time is quite different from the previous, The Summit 6 is held without a group phase and goes straight to the round double elimination.

Virtus.Pro itself started this tournament with a 2-1 win against EHOME in the first round. After that, their surprising dominance began to show. Amazingly, the team they faced after was not a random team.

During the semifinals, they managed to beat Wings Gaming which was the champion of The International 2021 with a score of 2-0 without reply. Then in the final winners’ bracket, they beat OG with a score of 2-1.

OG itself managed to rise, defeating Evil Geniuses in the final round losers’ bracket, and once again challenged Virtus.Pro in the round grand final. But once again, OG did not move against this team from Russia. Not even close. In series best of five, Virtus.Pro won with a score of 3-0 without reply. OG could only give meaningful resistance in the first game before being slaughtered in the next two games.

Virtus.Pro’s victory provides a glimmer of hope for the region of Russia and Ukraine. Because in addition to never reaping significant achievements, this region is in a very messy state with roster changes in big teams such as Na’Vi, Vega Squadron, and also Team Empire. Will Virtus.Pro be able to take advantage of their positive momentum to the Boston Major and bring back Russia and Ukraine? Let’s just hope so.
