The Latest WhatsApp Payment Features are Officially Released
After going through a fairly long trial phase, WhatsApp has finally released a payment feature in its application. Through his official account on Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg stated that Brazil is the first country that can use this feature, he also hopes that this feature can allow SMEs to make sales via WhatsApp.
Mark Zuckerberg said that his party built Facebook Pay which allows users to make transactions safely and conveniently across all of its applications, including WhatsApp and Instagram. Although currently its use is still very limited in Brazil, WhatsApp users around the world welcome this feature.
What is WhatsApp Payments?
WhatsApp Payment is a payment service that allows you to send and receive money as easily as you share photos. Currently this payment service has officially collaborated with several local banks in Brazil such as Banco do Brasil, Nubank, Sicredi and Cielo. Previously this service has been tested in India using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
The current payment service can be used for free by its users, but charges a fee of 3.99% to receive payments. Mark also said that his party implements the use of a 6-digit PIN or Fingerprint to increase security in carrying out each transaction. So it is certain that only the WhatsApp owner can use this service.
How to Use WhatsApp Payment
- Go to WhatsApp Settings and tap on Payment option.
- Select the Add New Account option in the Bank Account option.
- Then tap Accept and continue after reading all the terms and conditions.
- Select the Verify by SMS option and follow all requests to send SMS to start the linking process.
- In the next option, select the bank account you want to add to use the WhatsApp payment feature.
- After all the process is complete, you will get a ‘Setup Complete’ message on the screen.
How to Send Money via WhatsApp
- Select the contact you want to send money to via chat
- Click the ‘Payment’ option from the attachment options, if your contact doesn’t have the WhatsApp Payment option, an option to exchange money will appear.
- Enter the amount of money you want to send, then click Next. You can also add notes here.
- Enter the PIN and send the money. If you don’t have a PIN yet, you can follow the instructions to create a PIN.
How to Receive Money Through WhatsApp
- If you want to request payment, you can tap on the Request option. In this process, the person you are referring to must first accept the payment request. Then the person you are going to just enter the PIN.
- If you receive a payment, you will receive a notification every time someone sends you money.
