Team Secret Starts 2021 by Winning Captains Draft 4.0
After closing 2021 solidly, Team Secret opened 2021 too on a positive note. The team, led by Puppey, won the Captains Draft 4.0 and won a prize of US$108,000 (around Rp. 1.4 billion). This victory definitely solidified their position at the top ranking Dota 2 Pro Circuit, far above their competitors.
Team Secret didn’t start the tournament too convincingly. In the group phase using the GSL format, they finish with a score of 1-2, lost to Vici Gaming and Mineski. Luckily the group phase only serves as seeding and does not disqualify the participating team.
But after that their performance in playoffs convincing enough. In the first round they managed to beat EG who was making their debut with roster new. After that they beat Mineski 2-0 to advance to the final against Vici Gaming.
The final match against Vici Gaming was quite tough. At four games At the start, the Chinese team was always ahead and probably should have won easily. But Team Secret managed to steal games one and four through comeback which is quite unexpected. The two teams in the end have to play until games five.
On games five, for the first time Team Secret excelled in early game. Thanks to Ax and Meepo who got free lane, Team Secret managed to dominate games five after team wipe easy on mid game. Line up Vici Gaming which focuses on split push could not operate at all and finally once again had to admit defeat 3-2.
Coupled with the points earned from this tournament, Team Secret now has a total of 4140 Dota 2 Pro Circuit points. This far outperforms Team Liquid who is in second place with 2700 points. The next minor is ESL One Genting 2021 in two weeks, and Team Secret is also present as an invited team. Will they continue their dominance there?
