SumaiL was born in Pakistan on February 13, 1999 with the full name Syed Sumail Hasan. Yup, the name is in games comes from his real name. He lived and grew up in Pakistan for fifteen years along with seven other family members, his father, mother and five siblings including Yawar “YawaR” Hassan.

When ordinary children in general are still learning to write, read, and play football in a large field, from the age of eight, SumaiL has known DotA and keep playing it. From there, he dreamed of pursuing a career in the world gaming professional at the age of not even ten years.

SumaiL’s family didn’t have a computer at the time, so he had to ride a motorbike with his relatives and friends to go somewhere cafe and play. He does it every day, 10-13 games a day. So addicted, he is willing to sell his bike so he can play longer. Luckily, his father and mother, Syed Tatheer Mumtaz and Syeda Zill-e-Huma joined in supporting their son’s dream.

“I lived in Pakistan for 15 years. The more I come here, the more I want to play so I decided to sell my bike so I can play longer.” said SumaiL.

After raising enough money, Mumtaz, SumaiL’s father, brought his entire family to move to Rosemont, Chicago, United States with the aim of getting a better education for his children. But for him, that moment was a golden opportunity for him to continue playing Dota 2 and pursue a career in the gaming professional.

Competitive Travel

Arriving in the United States, SumaiL started playing to get into the North American Elite League (NEL). For those of you who don’t know, the NEL is the exclusive league of elite players (usually filtered by MMR) in North America. Inside the NEL there are standings, and the more you play and win, the higher your position will be.

SumaiL did not take long to get into the NEL. Sahil “Universe” Arora who was playing for Evil Geniuses then saw his name, which is a new player in NEL, at the top of the standings.

At the end of 2021, Charlie Yang, EG’s manager at the time, flew to Chicago to meet SumaiL to take care of all the necessary paperwork. SumaiL’s parents approved of their son joining EG, because it had been his dream since childhood.
