Review Legend of Mana Remastered
Last February, Nintendo announced the arrival of one of the latest remastered games from Square Enix, which is called a Legend of Mana Remasterd. This game is intended for PS4, Switch, and PC platforms. Dubbed the legendary JRPG, the game has succeeded in making players reminisce about their childhood.
Most of the story, the battle system, and the soundtrack make players who have played it remember this game which was released for PS1 at that time. Well, for those of you who are curious about the gameplay, this is a review of Legend of Mana Remastered.
Nostalgic Storyline
The first Legend of Mana Remastered review certainly comes from its classic plot line. The storyline is still the same as the original version. Still taking place in a fictional world, there is also a Mana Tree which many people believe brings life to the world.
Before this game began, it was told that a terrible war had occurred between humans, fairies, and other creatures that eventually brought havoc to the entire world. Instead of bringing peace, they are actually fighting for the rare power left from the Mana Tree just for worldly interests. In the end, the tree fell asleep and could no longer be used.
The main character played will become a hero and be given the responsibility and restore the world as before. Now, the area around the Mana Tree is inhabited by a number of varied creatures, such as humans, fairies, Jumi, demons, and other races.
Creating Maps As You Want
The unique thing that needs to be reviewed in Legend of Mana Remastered is the Land Make system. You need to know, this system is still very rarely presented by other JRPG games.
As the name implies, players can place city or dungeon artifacts according to the player’s wishes. At the beginning of the game, the player must determine the location of a particular map even though he only sees empty lands. Your task is to find artifacts scattered in different locations.
You may have to find 36 artifacts, depending on the plot you choose. In order to get all these artifacts, players must counter certain events from several locations.
Raising Monsters and Planting Seeds
If you want to bring up the Trent Tree that lives behind the main character’s house, players need to go through the event first. After Nicolai joins the team, players can explore more on the Luo Highway.
Once there, talk to the creature with the rock face named Gaeus. After talking to him, the player will meet Trent and plant seeds behind the house.
Later Trent will appear if the player has succeeded in fighting the Lullabuds in the main character’s house. He will tell about planting seeds that will be useful for the main character’s pet monster. There are several seeds that you can plant, such as Round Seed, Big Seed, Small Seed, and others.
In Legend of Mana Remastered, players can raise monsters after completing the Monster Corral event. You can find monster eggs in various scattered places. It might be a little tricky, especially when players want to catch the monsters. If you catch it, it will be placed in the Monster Corral behind the house.
Well, a feature that was never presented in Legend of Mana PS1 is Ring Ring Land. This feature was previously only available for the Japanese version and not in the American version. In addition to feeding, pet monsters can also adventure in the digital world. The Ring Ring Land is the place for monsters to go on adventures, fight, and look for treasure.
Not Much Changed in Combat System
From the combat system, this remastered version does not experience many changes from the PS1 version. Still carrying the concept of action RPG, players are also still provided with a choice of weapons, such as swords, knives, axes, spears, and many more. However, each weapon will affect the character’s abilities and stats.
What is unfortunate enough to be reviewed in this Legend of Mana Remastered review is that the AI of NPC characters is still lacking, especially at the end of the fight. Some players complain that they have difficulty leveling up NPCs, because their movements often move away from diamonds that can increase EXP.
However, there are also shortcuts for using special attacks that you can set in the menu section. Before using the attack, you have to estimate the time of its use because it has a limit. To fill the limit, you need to use melee attacks first.
New Features
Like other remastered games, Legend of Mana Remastered also brings several new features. What is clearly visible is the increase in the quality of the graphics, which is certainly better than the original version.
There are 2 resolution modes to choose from, namely 1080p and 4K. Even though it has not undergone much renovation, the visuals are still beautiful and beautiful, especially in the locations where there are many natural elements.
Another feature that needs to be discussed in the Legend of Mana Remastered review is Music Mode. From this feature, players can listen to the game’s signature music, which was made by the famous Japanese composer, Yoko Shimomura. What’s interesting about Music Mode is that players can also choose from the 2 types of music it offers, namely the original version and the rearrangement.
There is also a Quick Save feature that makes players no longer have to worry about saving gameplay progress. Then, the Encounters feature that allows players to choose a mode when fighting enemies. Players can turn off the feature if they feel uncomfortable with the enemy. No wonder Encounter is perfect for players who really want to enjoy the Legend of Mana storyline and speed up the storyline to completion.
How? After reading the Legend of Mana Remastered review, are you curious to play this childhood game? Have a nice play.
