Easy Step-by-step Install Custom ROM Xiaomi Redmi 4x
How to install custom rom on android xiaomi redmi 4x
mrfdn – For those of you who like to change custom roms, you may be confused about how to do it.
Here’s a tutorial on how to change a custom rom on an android phone.
And the reason I changed this custom rom is because my cellphone is full of memory, and if I want to play pubg it’s a bit slow.
After installing this rom, I played pubg very smoothly.
Just go to the stage of installing a custom rom on redmi 4x
Preparation of Install Materials
1. Android phone of course. Here I am using a xiaomi redmi 4x ram 2gb internal 16gb. Cheap, cheerful diarrhea..
2. Download the rom or custom rom that you want to install.
Here I use the Pixel Experience ROM the first version of Android Oreo. Not the Android Pie version.
3. If needed, download the gapps too.
This is very important because that’s where Google’s built-in apps are located. Like google play, contact, gmail, etc. But if there are gapps in the custom rom, just ignore it. For example, in the Pixel Experience rom, this rom already includes gapps in the installation file.
4. Adb and android redmi 4x drivers.
5. Twrp. Make sure the twrp matches the type of android you want to install.
For example, if you want to install android p, then there is a special twrp to install android p. If you use twrp oreo, then the custom rom android p file usually can’t be installed. The point is twrp must be one level or equivalent to the type of android you want to install on your cellphone. Here I use twrp orange fox for android p, so when i want to install rom android o can also.
6. If necessary, also provide a custom kernel. This is just an additional option.
Actually every custom rom already has its own kernel. The kernel is installed after we install the custom rom. Usually those who like to change the kernel because they want to get a smoother android performance. Including when playing pubg. Here I don’t install a custom kernel because the pixel experience default kernel is very solid.
7. Make sure the android battery is charged at least 50%.
8. Make sure your xiaomi redmi 4x has unlocked the bootloader. Please googling or go to youtube for how to unlock the bootloader.
Okay, after all the conditions above are met, let’s start the installation.
Installation Step
1. Install twrp
Log in to the computer. Open the adb folder then put the twrp file there. For example, the file is named recovery.img. Then save the file there.
How to install TWRP with a laptop computer to a redmi 4x cellphone so that it’s easy to install a custom rom

2. If the android robot image appears, release the two buttons, then plug the usb cable from the computer into your xiaomi redmi 4x.
3. Open the adb folder on the computer
4. Press Shift on the keyboard and then right click on an empty part of that adb window.
5. Select open command window here6. Select the twrp name listed. Here my twrp name is orangefox.img. Then type in the command prompt screen by typing
fastboot flash recovery namatwrp.img — here I typed —
fastboot flash recovery orangefox.img
then press enter.
7. You can unplug the cable from the cellphone and then turn off the cellphone, then proceed to the 3rd step below. Or continue typingfastboot boot namatwrp.img — here I typed —
fastboot boot orangefox.img
this will automatically restart your cellphone then enter the twrp menu. After logging in, unplug the usb cable attached to the cellphone.
If you’re still confused, please just open YouTube on how to install TWRP on Android. Okay.
2. Copy files to SD card
The files copied to the SD card are rom files (.zip), gapps files (.zip) if needed, kernel files (.zip) if needed,
3. Install rom / custom rom
After that, turn off the redmi 4x. Then turn it back on by pressing 3 buttons at the same time, namely
vol up + vol down + power
Hold it down until it vibrates, then release the power button, but hold the vol up and down buttons until the twrp screen appears.
After the twrp appears, there are 2 ways, namely clean install or just delete data. Do a clean install and then wipe. This wipe is the same as the formatting process on your computer’s hard disk. For clean install select all options except internal storage, and micro sd>> swipe.
After that select install. Select the rom you want to install >> swipe. Select gapps>>swipe.
4. Wipe cache >> reboot system.
Additional options :: if you want to install a custom kernel, first make sure that the kernel you want to install can run on your rom.
The method,
Backup first the default kernel of your rom that is running now.
Enter twrp>>backup select check “boot” (this is the default kernel file)
The backup file will be stored in an internal folder in the twrp folder (if I use the fox folder because I installed twrp orange fox on my android).
After that install the custom kernel. Same as how to install the rom above. Namely select install>>kernel file you want to install and then swipe.
Do Wipe cache >> reboot the system.
Done, please set up your cellphone again from the beginning. Because of all the passwords, the account has been deleted.
