Review : ASUS ROG G750JS – (maybe) Last Edition Successor for Old Great ROG Barebone
The barebones of the ROG series are one of the sales points that make it much idolized by gamers around the world. But finally, after the G750JS series this time, perhaps, the masculine figure of the ROG series will no longer exist. Disappointed? Hope not!
Design
If pemmzholics look at this photo of the G750JS, there is really nothing different from the G750JW and G750JM previously reviewed by Pemmz. For this reason, the review this time the Pemmz team will further test the barebones capabilities of the new ROG G750JS when tested in a full load state of approximately 4 hours of non-stop use. For initial information, compared to the JW series and JM series that we have reviewed previously, nothing has changed in the material and design of the barebones G750JS, including the accessories and interface lines.
But before that, we will first discuss the specifications brought by this G750JS.
Intel Core i7 4700HQ
This point is quite a pity if we look at the barebones G750 which is very, very possible to “carry” the CPU from the M series family to get CPU upgradeable options. On paper, this makes the G750JS commensurate with the MSI GS702PE Stealth in terms of performance, but falls short in terms of portability. But in terms of performance, we all know, CPUs from the H family are a little more promising to overclock than the M family.
Nvidia Geforce GTX870M 3GB
This point is also quite a pity if we compare it with the “look” of the ROG-Series which is very “Gaming”. Indeed, out there, several brands use a similar series, take the example of MSI GT60. For those of you who want a more powerful option, namely the GTX870M with 6GB VRAM, the Xenom Phoenix PX17-CTO can be an option. For information, the difference in strength between the two is around 10% more. Indeed, in terms of price, the ROG G750JS is more affordable but must be paid for with a more minimal upgrade option compared to the Xenom Phoenix PX17 for example.
Display Panel
The LCD used on the G750JS is also the same as the previous series. And as has been widely acknowledged by those who have reviewed the G750 series, the quality of the LCD panel is relatively low for the Matte panel size. It’s a bit helpful if the owner only uses it in a room with low light, but don’t ever invite you to play in the sun, so so bad.
Sales Package
Performance
For performance, we compared the G750JS with a 3GB GTX870M GPU with two other notebooks from different brands that use a lower GPU, namely the GTX850M and GTX860M. Later Pemmz will present the percentage of the benefit that is obtained. Despite the overall price, there are still several types from other brands that offer the same specifications but at a cheaper price, such as the MSI GS70 Stealth for example.
The performance of the Heatsink & Cooling Fan is good but quite quiet, making the heat dissipation ability of the ASUS ROG G750JS worthy of appreciation. When you find that the component temperature reaches more than 80’C, the management fan will immediately take over the situation. But if you feel it’s lacking, pemmzholics can activate GPU Tweak before playing the game and set the fan speed to the maximum setting from the start. This can reduce the maximum heat on the GPU by up to 14.4%.
And after we tested playing games non-stop for about 2 hours, pemmz recorded the temperature on the G750JS a maximum of XX for the CPU and XX for the GPU. This value is slightly different, especially in GPU points when compared to
Battery Performance
This point has been proven from all the G750 family, even the entire Asus notebook family equipped with Power 4 Gear. With an 8 cell battery that is exactly the same as the previous series, the G750JS at the beginning of the test was only able to last 100 minutes. Supposedly, with the GTX870M and CPU from the H family, power consumption can be more efficient when testing the battery with battery eat pro classic mode.
Extra Features
There are 2 new features that Pemmz has just tried and have never seen in ROG products before, namely ASUS Backtracker which may be an update from ASUS Recovery and ASUS GPU Tweak which seems completely new and is intended to increase GPU performance even though it automatically (presets).
Conclusion
The price offered by the ASUS ROG G750JS can be said to be very tempting. Even though the MSI GS70 Stealth has a super slim design that will catch anyone’s eye the first time you see it, ROG’s barebones gaming design still has a very, very strong aura that even New Alienware can’t match.
The quality control side has been improved a lot since the Pemmz G750JW review. If only there was an improvement in the quality of the LCD panel, it could be that ROG will again dominate the gaming notebook market which is currently being targeted by other manufacturers.
Performance is very, very reliable, just skipping all the episodes of modern 3D games currently circulating, G750JS is more than enough to catch up to 40-50 fps with 3GB VRAM on its GTX870M.
(+) Pros
- three levels of backlight keyboard

- Blu-ray Drive
- Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1202″ Wi-Fi adapter
- Good Air Flow circulation plus Fan Elite Series, low noise.
- Exclusive ASUS Turbo Master GPU-overclocking technology.
(-) Cons
- The rubber coating can attract dust and the platen also makes fingerprints visible after handling the unit.
- Sales packages are minimal.
- Average brightness of only 273 cd/m² (competitors average more than 330cd/m²)
- The screen looks quite dark due to the relatively low brightness, and should not be used in direct sunlight.
