The Indian government has even issued a controversial rule that prohibits its citizens from playing PUBG. The ban is carried out exclusively by the province of Gujarat. This prohibition is based on the reason that PUBG has some negative effects on people who play the game especially in terms of violence. Although on the other hand the claims of PUBG’s association with violence have been refuted in several studies.
For this reason, the ban on playing PUBG Mobile online games in India has been implemented since Early 2021 with the issuance of a circular letter from the Indian Ministry of Education on a recommendation by the Gujarat State Commission for the Protection of Children’s Rights.
