PUBG Game Players Can Turn Into Killers, Really?

PUBG games are considered to be able to motivate people to do violent action, even desperate to commit murder. Is it that bad already?

According to a psychologist from the University of Indonesia, Anna Surti Ariani, that content games Violent content such as PUBG may contain so-called behavioral references.

Anna explained, there could be player references that killing each other is allowed in the real world.

“So this is what people worry about if the reference is like that, then the behavior of the players is killing. But we also know that indirect behavioral references become killer behavior,” Anna explained to Telset.id team on Friday (22/03/2021).

He said that there were several filters before a behavior reference could turn into aggressive negative behavior, such as acts of violence.

According to him, if the person thinks that killing is wrong behavior or is not good at using firearms, then play games violence will have no effect on their behavior.

“Similarly, if basically they are people who are full of love, then they will not just kill other people,” said Anna.

He argues, the community and government should strengthen these filters. The trick is to promote character education at home and at school.

“So how does one no It’s easy to be influenced by what you watch, play, how you want to hate other people, but still prioritize tolerance for living together,” said Anna.

In addition, he judged that the intake of aggressive content was not only from games or just watch movies. Associations in the community and in the world of education also display an aggressive content that affects the behavior of the community, especially children.

“For example, when at school it is allowed to exist” bullying or in society, many people say harsh words, it will be an intake of aggressiveness,” he said.

“In my opinion, if the fatwa is forbidden, it is really made, but education in social life still tends to be aggressive and left alone, it will not have too much effect,” said Anna.

Previously, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) will study games PUBG. They will consider removing PUBG haram fatwa or not, because the game is considered to have caused harm or bad impact.
