[Patch Update] Microsoft Flight Simulator Reduce Download Size in Half

Recently Microsoft Flight Simulator made an update that made the game size significantly smaller, initially this game has a size of 170 GB, but thanks to the latest patch Microsoft Flight Simulator is only 83 GB in size.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is a large and quite heavy game. Through the Steam page revealed that at least players must prepare 150 storage space before playing the game.

The hefty size to download this game has previously been justified by its huge community, with satellite data being used to recreate every banda on Earth.

Patch Notes 1.16.2.0 Microsoft Flight Simulator

In addition to the 1.16.2.0 patch update which reduces the file size by more than half, the bandwidth taken up by real-time weather and time data transfers has also been reduced, which means less data transfer is required to play this game.

This reduction in data size contrasts with Call of Duty’s massive update that made the game harder to store on limited storage on next-gen consoles.

The development team put forth their best efforts by making various other changes to improve the realism of the simulation, including specific changes to some aircraft such as the Beechcraft King Air 350i to more accurately depict life in the game as well as in the real world.

Not only that, the weather display is also changed to show rainfall specifically rather than cloud coverage, so pilots can better know which clouds are dangerous and which are safe to traverse.

This size reduction will help low-end Internet users who have bandwidth limitations, and of course potato-spec PC users with limited storage space.

In this latest update there is a good signal for a release in the upcoming console version. The Xbox Series S, for example, ships with only 364 GB of storage.

Perhaps for hardcore Flight Simulator players, the size reduction update is meaningless. However, for new players, it will provide a much more manageable entry point and make the game accessible to them even when their internet connection is unstable.
