Newbee Wins Perfect World Masters, Gets Tickets to DAC 2021
After almost half a year of fasting, Newbee finally returned to the podium by winning the Perfect World Masters. Thanks to this achievement, they are entitled to take home a prize of US$150,000 (approximately IDR2 billion), 150 Dota 2 Pro Circuit points, and last but not least, a direct ticket to the Major in April, namely the 2021 Dota 2 Asia Championship (DAC) major tournament.
Despite appearing quite dominant in playoffs, Newbee’s performance in the group stage of this tournament was not perfect. They can only bag one win and three draws, behind Team Kinguin who surprisingly won Group B.
But once entering the round playoffs, they seemed to step on the gas. After beating LGD.FY in the quarter-finals, they met Kinguin and this time managed to win with a score of 2-0 without reply.
In upper bracket final, they were also able to beat Vici Gaming with a score of 2-1 and advance to the final. Vici Gaming itself then followed suit again in the final after defeating LGD.FY in lower bracket final 2-0 in just under 50 minutes total. But in the final round, they were still overwhelmed by Newbee.
in two games early on, Newbee won pretty easily thanks to early game solid and brilliant performance from Sccc. Vici Gaming then gave a fiercer resistance and had a chance to excel in the games third. It’s just that, thanks to some team fight key, Newbee can do come back and ended the final round with a 3-0 win.
The additional points and Major tickets that Newbee gets from the Perfect World Masters champion will certainly be an important stepping stone for them. Because after this, they won’t be attending any tournament due to the intense competition in the Chinese qualifiers. Fortunately, they currently have a fairly high point acquisition, which is in fourth place with a total of 1035 points.
