Final Fantasy VII Remake on Square Enix Snooze!
RPG game fans just got a ‘fresh air’ with the announcement of the release schedule for Kingdom Hearts 3 from Square Enix. So what’s up with Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is being prepared for PS4? It looks like you are patient longer because until now there has been no further news about when this legendary RPG game will be released.
Why Final Fantasy VII Remake Was Delayed
Quoted from the Attack of the Fanboy page (26/7/2021), Tetsuya Nomura, who is the director for Kingdom Hearts 3 and also Final Fantasy VII Remake, gave an update that the game development process was delayed for one reason. The reason is because the cultivation of this game has been moved to full internal production. Nomura also leaked that there won’t be any new gameplay footage from Square Enix any time soon.
This is actually related to the progress update on Final Fantasy VII Remake which was announced in May 2021. Square Enix announced that work on Final Fantasy VII Remake was split between two different companies, one of which was CyberConnect2. Square Enix will focus on the game’s storyline while CyberConnect2 will focus on gameplay mechanics.
However, from Nomura’s explanation, it seems that the production work on Final Fantasy Remake will only be done by Square Enix. As previously reported, Square Enix has added a new division, namely the Business Division, which is devoted to game development. Each division is led by senior Square Enix employees who have no doubts about their skills, such as Naoki Hamaguchi from Mobius Final Fantasy.
Will Come With New Concept
Square Enix said that Final Fantasy VII Remake will come with major changes, one of which is that this game will be packed with episodic concepts and a battle system that no longer carries Active Time Battle (ATB) anymore. In addition, the graphics in this game have also been completely overhauled.
Square Enix announced the creation of a Final Fantasy VII Remake game specifically for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event in June 2021. Previously, Square Enix and Tetsuya Nomura had showcased some of the latest gameplay footage for Final Fantasy VII Remake at the Magic Monaco 2021 event held in February this year.
In the footage provided, the game’s main character, Cloud fights a Midgar soldier fight scene. In the footage, Cloud is seen taking cover in a large box. There are also typical Final Fantasy VII commands such as Attack, Materia, Magic and Items. There is also a picture showing Cloud and Barret struggling with Guard Scorpion which is the first boss in Midgar.
Previously, Square Enix announced that later this game would be available in several episodes that will have content proportional to 3 game discs like the original version released for PlayStation 1.
