EVOS Competes in The Major League Tournament
Although The Major League Tournament is not included in the major and minor tournaments that are the way to The International, but that does not mean this tournament is not interesting to watch. There are 7 qualified teams that already have names from Asia and plus 1 more team from the Malaysian qualifiers will advance to this tournament.
The total prize reached RM300,000 or around Rp. 958 million makes this tournament very interesting to watch. The tournament itself was held at the Educity Sports Complex located in Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia and sponsored by Celcom, a well-known telecommunications company in Malaysia. Previously, Indonesia had also held the Indonesia Games Championship tournament which was sponsored by a well-known telecommunications company from Indonesia, Telkomsel.
In The Major League Tournament which took place in Malaysia, there was also an eSport team from Indonesia, namely EVOS Esports, which recently announced their new coach xFreedom who already has a fairly high flying time in the world of Dota 2 by ranking 5-6 at The International. 2012.
EVOS Esports was selected to enter this tournament based on their performance prior to The International 7 qualification, where EVOS Esports entered the top 10 best teams in the SEA Region (South East Asia) based on Gosugamers and Joindota. And also their performance in several LAN events such as the Indonesia Pride Gaming League and ROG Masters, which are in the top 3, making EVOS Esports included in The Major League Tournament.
Even though their roster is still incomplete after the release of 2hoi and Huppey who are still standing for EVOS, they are still confident about this event.
EVOS Esports’ opponents in this tournament are not easy, they are all well-known teams that have experience in international tournament tournaments.
From the China region, there are 2 strong teams iG.Vitality and EHOME that will block, where iG.Vitality is one of the participants in The International 7. Even though the graph of iG.Vitality after The International 7 is still declining, because they have not yet qualified for a single minor tournament or major and their best achievement was at ESL One Hamburg 2021 where they ranked 3-4 in the region qualifier, but that doesn’t mean iG.Vitality can be underestimated. Meanwhile, the same EHOME that received a direct invite to this tournament has a team strength that cannot be underestimated by becoming the first winner in the WESG qualification for the China region and getting a slot in the 2021 WESG grand final.
From Malaysia, there are Fnatic and WG.Unity who also received direct invites who have also never qualified for a major or minor tournament and until now have made frequent roster changes. However, their strength cannot be underestimated with the presence of EternaLEnVy on Fnatic and Feero on WG.Unity, both of which are players from outside SEA who have had quite good flying hours.
The last two opponents that will be tough opponents for EVOS Esports are Clutch Gamers and Execration, where Clutch Gamers is ranked second in the ESL One Hamburg 2021 qualifier region and Execration is advancing to represent the Philippines in the ROG Masters qualifier.
With such a tough opponent, EVOS Esports remains optimistic to see The Major League Tournament as the only representative of Indonesia. Good Luck Evos!
Look forward to the EVOS Esports journey only in Kabar Games!
