Complete Tutorial How to Use XDM on Windows, Linux and Mac

mrfdn – Watching a good video on youtube through a computer/laptop sometimes makes us want to download the video, so we can watch it offline, without using the internet anymore.

At that time our minds are always fixed on an application called Internet Download Manager or IDM.

I’ve been using IDM on my windows for a long time, and honestly until now I’ve been using it but the crack version. Even though we know it is a paid application to use it we have to pay a few dollars to the application maker to get a series of license codes to use it.

For those of you who don’t want to deal with activities looking for cracks, you need to use this one download manager application, the name is Extreme Download Manager or XDM.

XDM is an alternative application to IDM to make it easier for us to download files from the internet.

Its function is exactly the same as IDM (internet download manager), XDM can do almost everything that can be done with IDM.

Besides being able to run on Windows, XDM can also run on Linux and even MAC. Cool.

I myself use this application to download files such as movies from google drive, to download youtube videos of various sizes-according to the playback-starting from 144 to 4k quality though.

Problems often experienced by IDM users

If you use IDM, we receive too often notifications to update.

Meanwhile, if you accidentally press the update button, the IDM application will automatically download the latest version and then read the IDM application that we have, whether it is the result of a crack or not.

And if it’s a cracked version then IDM won’t work anymore on our windows system.

Really.. is it true..! oops..

The solution is to use XDM (Extreme Download Manager)

xdm download manager for windows, linux and mac

This application is a free application, developed and shared for free. Even if someone wants to contribute to become the developer, they can too, because this application is an open source application.

Even if you want to change and modify the code, then you can view the code and create your own version.

But they do not close the opportunity for people who want to donate to the creator of this application.

First download XDM via Github.

Now we have finished the installation process on the system.

Now we configure XDM to run in each browser.

XDM can run on Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Chromium, Vivaldi and Microsoft Edge.

In each of these browsers, we then install the XDM extension so that XDM can read any files that you want to download.

  1. Open XDM
  2. Click tools >> Browser Monitoring
  3. Click install addon according to the browser installed on your system.

  4. After the extension is installed in the browser, XDM is ready to use.

How to download files with XDM

  1. Make sure the XDM application is open/running first.
  2. Browse your files, if you open YouTube, there will automatically be a Download button in the lower right corner.

  3. Press the button, then you will find various files that are detected automatically by XDM.

  4. Select the file you want to download, then the file download process will automatically run.

Tips for downloading files with XDM

Make sure you download the latest version of XDM to get the best features.

If the downloaded file doesn’t automatically open via XDM, then please go to the list of downloaded files (for Chrome – press
CTRL+J).

After that, right-click the file that is being downloaded via the browser, then select Download via XDM.

Then your download process will be faster than using the download browser feature.

The final word

The XDM application can be the best and free alternative download manager for your system.

With features and compatibility with various operating systems, I think XDM deserves to be the best download manager program that you can have on all your systems.

I’ve been using this application since I was playing with my hackintosh-installed laptop, and XDM has really helped me a lot. IDM is not available on Mac.
