5 Latest Updates for Matchmaking Dota 2 April 2021
Responding to the complaints of Dota 2 players about the problem of noobs players with large MMR and also a matchmaking system that is considered unfair, Valve finally made a major update for its Matchmaking feature. This major matchmaking update occurred on April 20, 2021.
The focus of the Dota 2 matchmaking update in 2021 this time is related to improving the experience in matchmaking by restoring the solo queque system, adding a phone system that is connected to an account, and several additions that are still related to matchmaking. let’s look at the points of the Dota 2 update.
Add Phone Number
The first major change is to link a unique phone number linked to the account in order to queue up for ranking matches. Valve knows that there are many players who use multiple accounts which makes the matchmaking system in this moba game ugly.
Linking a phone number to an account aims to reduce players with multiple accounts so that the experience in matchmaking increases. With an update like this, Valve hopes that many players use their original IDs so that positive effects can be felt when ranked matchmaking and also non-ranked matchmaking.
All Dota 2 players are given the opportunity to enjoy match rankings without filling in their phone numbers by Valve from 20 April to 3 May only. On May 4, 2021, Dota 2 accounts that are not linked with a unique phone number will not be able to enjoy ranking match facilities.
The number registered to an account can be removed immediately after registration and replaced with a new number. However, the deleted number can only be re-registered to a new Dota 2 account after 3 months. This is to prevent using the same number on multiple accounts. Valve prohibits the use of phone numbers available online. So don’t try to use it.
The Return of the Solo Queue
The next Dota 2 matchmaking update is Valve holding back the solo queue. The re-procurement of this solo queue is to accommodate the wishes of solo players who want to play with other solo players. All solo players who choose this feature, will be placed in a match of only 10 solo players.
Party System Change
Changes to the party system were also made in this Dota 2 matchmaking update. When a Dota 2 player who has a Solo MMR higher than his party’s MMR plays in the party queue, that player and his party will be placed in a matchmaking party that is higher than his MMR. The value will be between the party’s MMR and the player’s solo MMR.
Attitude Based Matchmaking
In this update as well, Valve is trying to eliminate some unwanted attitudes from players when matchmaking takes place. First, a player who is in a low-priority match is penalized for not being able to join the ranking queue. Bans range from a few hours to 4 days depending on how often a player is in low-priority matches.
Second, Valve’s playstyle is very diverse and wide, but there is one thing that is not allowed, namely ruining matches. Behavior such as feeding (deliberately) that spoils the game as a whole can be detected by Valve and will be subject to severe sanctions. Lastly, Valve created a system that can detect bots. Players caught using bots will have their accounts permanently banned by Valve.
Regional Matchmaking Changes
Matchmaking Ranking is no longer valid for South Africa, India and also the United Arab Emirates. This is because matchmaking rankings in this area have a quiet population so abuse often occurs. Players residing in this region will be transferred to another regional ranking matchmaking.
Now that’s the Dota 2 matchmaking update in 2021. This change was made by Valve in improving the matchmaking experience of Dota 2 players. Hopefully no one will complain anymore because of unfair matchmaking, noobs players, and also trash behavior, huh!
