1. Using Android Emulator

An emulator is a program that allows users to run certain operating systems. For this first method, we will use BlueStacks to be able to run Instagram via PC.

You have to download and install BlueStacks first (tutorial here). After that, you can listen to the steps on how to open direct messages on your PC / laptop.

1. Please run the BlueStacks program on your PC. Then you are instructed to login using an active Google account.

2. After logging in, type “Instagram” in the following Search Box column. It is used to install instagram on BlueStacks. Click Install. Wait until the installation process is complete.

3. Run the installed Instagram application. So this is the initial look of Instagram, just like the first time opening Instagram via a smartphone. Click Login to be able to use Instagram.

4. Enter the previously registered username and password. Then, click the button Login.

5. This is the Home view in the Instagram application. To open a DM (Direct Message) then you can press the button as shown below.

6. Then you will see a collection of your Direct Messages. Select the contact you want to send the message to by pressing the “+” button.

2. Using Windows

Well, for you Windows 10 users, you don’t need to install an emulator to be able to use the Instagram application. Because, Windows has provided an Instagram application that can be downloaded through the Microsoft Store. Here are the steps.

1. Open the Microsoft Store which can be searched through the Start Menu.

2. Type “instagram” in the following Search Box column. Select the recommended instagram app.

3. After that the following page will appear, click Get to download the Instagram app.

4. Wait until the download process is complete. Then, click Launch to run the Instagram application.

5. Click the link Sign In to login to your Instagram account.

6. Enter your username and password. Then, press the button Login.

7. To open a direct message, you can press the following button.

8. Select the contact you want to send the message to.
