Tips and Tricks to Fight Fatalists in Monster Hunter World Iceborne
Derived from the first Monster Hunter series, the black dragon Fatalis has finally reappeared in the Monster Hunter World Iceborne game. Incidentally, it appears as the last new monster update for this game.
Before moving on to the Monster Hunter Rise series, Capcom seemed to want to leave a trail of extraordinary memories for the Monster Hunter World Iceborne players through the Fatalis update.
This one long-necked dragon can really give you a nightmare. It even goes beyond what Alatreon has shown you. So of course not a few hunters seem to be getting frustrated in dealing with the Elder Dragon monster. So on this occasion, we also want to share important tips and tricks that can really help you.
In general
You will usually fight Fatalis in a special unique arena called Castle Schrade. When you first meet him, you are indeed required to fight him solo or single player. However, there you will be assisted by one of the NPC characters
From that moment, you should pay attention and learn the patterns of fatalist movements in carrying out attacks. Especially when he started spitting fire diligently, doing his horses to crawl, stand up, and wag his tail.
At the same time, you also need to contribute to attacking and dealing enough damage until a cutscene appears. The real battle will start from there.
Fatalis himself is an Elder Dragon with elements of Dragon (***) and Fire (**). Interestingly, he has the exact same weaknesses as his own elemental characteristics, especially Dragon and absolute resistance to stun status.
While discussing the anatomy of the body, the head, forelegs and chest are the parts that you can target when you start attacking. Attacking the hind legs can also be an alternative option as long as you have tendered it first.
Unlike Alatreon, there is no necessity to use elemental weapons against Fatalis. Most importantly, make sure your weapon has a build that can do enough damage. Because there are 3 phases of fighting that you have to go through here and you only have 30 minutes to defeat it with a maximum limit of 5 times charting (especially in the Special Assignment mission).
Tips for Phase 1
In the first phase, you will play in an arena that feels cramped. Here you have to focus on aggressively attacking Fatalis to the point of forcing him to do an ultimate burst attack that will destroy the outer gate of the castle. When Fatalis is preparing this attack, you must take refuge in a cave area that has been marked in order to be able to proceed to phase 2.
While at the same time, the tips and tricks you need to remember are as follows:
- On the opposite side of the gate, there are 2 cannons and a ballista that you can use. But make sure you have maximum heavy artillery skills (for additional damage) plus ghillie mantle so Fatalis can’t detect your presence.
- If you successfully fire 10 cannons right at Fatalis’ body, Fatalis will immediately fall and take a long time. Make good use of this moment.
- Take advantage of the wallbang, but don’t be careless in using it. Make sure the Wallbang is used when Fatalis is on all fours (on 4 legs) rather than standing on 2 legs. The difference in the amount of damage itself is quite significant when in 4 foot mode.
- The Dragon Pod items that drop when you tenderize Fatalis’ body parts really have a crucial role in the battle. Because every 2 or 3 times you throw it at the fatalist’s body, you can make it stagger and interrupt the various attacks of this monster. You can also repay it by firing one, then prepare to fire it again when you are at a disadvantage.
- The role of the Dragon Pod is not only useful for phase 1, but also for the next phase. So don’t let you run out of Dragon Pod when starting these phases.
Tips for Phase 2
In phase 2, your playing field will become wider. And because of that, Fatalis will now also start to actively fly in the air and attack you from there. Just like in Phase 1, you still have to focus on dealing damage so that Fatalis returns to issue the next ultimate burst attack.
From there, you are now required to go towards the entrance of the gate, then close the gate with a level. Important tips and tricks that you need to do while in this phase are as follows:
- Not only from Balista and new cannons, you can now take advantage of the presence of roaming ballistas (ala Gattling Gun) to attack Fatalis who is flying to force him to come back down to the ground. Make sure you have the Heavy Artillery skill again in order to be able to do more damage to Fatalis.
- Ammo from Roaming Ballista can be reloaded after some time running. So don’t hesitate to use it right away
- There are two binder shot arrows on the right near the cannon, and also on the left near the balllista. This arrow can be used to instantly stop Fatalis from moving for a while. However, it’s better not to use it first in phase 2. aka, it’s better to save it for the next phase.
- If you feel you have done enough damage, try not to start too far from the gate area. The goal is that you are not late to enter when Fatalis uses an ultimate attack when it starts to enter phase 3.
Tips for Phase 3, 4, and so on
This is the last and most crucial phase. Still in the same area, Fatalis was now starting to be in his strongest form. With the blue flames, almost all of them can really feel very deadly.
If at a certain time you still can’t kill Fatalis, later he will also issue a follow-up ultimate attack that can only be avoided by running towards the back to the side of Fatalis.
Tips that you should pay attention to when you make it to this phase are as follows:
- This is the perfect time to use Binder Shot
- 2 times destroying Fatalis’s head can eliminate the effects of his usual blue fire attacks. So the fight can run more easily.
- The flames that rotate 360 degrees (especially in blue fire mode) are indeed the most tricky Fatal attacks to dodge. Using farcaster can be a wise move if your current health condition is in a very critical condition. Where you can also take advantage of that moment to restock.
- In some time, you will start to use Dragonator. Make sure you are able to make Fatalis in the right position (slightly towards the middle of the gate) so that 2 massive hits of damage from Dragonator can enter.
From this explanation, indeed you will really need a lot of preparation both in terms of using build weapons, equipment, decorations, charms and others that really have to be mature. The main skills that we would like to highly recommend for you to use against Fatalis are:
- Agitator
- Latent Power
- critical eye
- Weakness Exploit
- Partbreaker
- Heavy Artillery (required for solo)
- Divine Blessing
- Health Boost 3
- Fire Resist
- Dragon Resist
- Widerange
- Free meal
In addition, the bonus skills of the Alatreon Armor set can be a pretty helpful solution to defending against Fatalis’ elemental attacks. Then you also need to take advantage of the use of mantles such as fire to temporal mantles in order to provide the least advantage in fighting.
If so, that’s a collection of tips and tricks that we can give in dealing with monsters that are temporarily the most difficult in this game. Keep it up for those of you who are still fighting!
