PUBG Contacts Jio Reliance Regarding PUBG Blocking in India

The Indian government has confirmed that it will continue to block PUBG Mobile games in India, and will not stop the blocking at any time. The reason for this blocking is because the game is considered to teach violence.

A PUBG Corp spokesman said that they are currently trying to lobby Reliance Jio, a private telecommunications company in India to find a way to re-market their game in the country.

“We are discussing this matter with platform Jio and looking for a meeting room, but for now no decision has been taken,” said the spokesman, quoted by Reuters.

Reliance Jio also still refuses to provide information regarding their conversation with PUBG Corp. This week, other news said that the Government of India has no intention of discussing with PUBG and other parties stakeholders, and have no plans to stop PUBG blocking.

PUBG Mobile is just one of 117 mobile apps from China that were blocked from the Google App Store and Apple Store on September 1 by the Government of India. This block is a continuation of the previous blocking action on June 15, where there were 59 Chinese applications that were blocked, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Clash of Kings. Meanwhile, Call of Duty is not blocked, even though it includes games related to Tencent.

The blocking of applications from China is the Indian Government’s reaction to the previously heated tensions in the India-China border area.
