MSI GF63 8RC Review – Slim Design, Outstanding Performance, Suitable for Gamers and Professionals

Design

The cover of the GL63 uses aluminum material with a rough stripe motif. This cover can be easily opened with one hand. Although it looks cool, be careful when touching it under certain conditions because there is little static electricity. Although not large, we were surprised several times by the effects. Fortunately, this only happens on the cover and not on the palm rest area. Unfortunately again, the cover and palm rest areas are easily stained with oily hands.

Dimension

The GL63 series has a slimmer dimension. Dimensions of length and width are about 35.9 cm and 25.4 cm. Cool, the thickness is also only about 2.17 cm. The weight is also made light. This series only weighs about 1.86 kg. You could say this is one of the lightest for a gaming laptop class. So it’s cool, right, if you carry a gaming laptop around. Don’t make it heavy.

Screen

Using an IPS panel, the screen has a full HD resolution and an aspect ratio of 18 to 9. This series puts forward the concept of a thin bezel on the screen to streamline its physical appearance while keeping the screen size wide. Thin bezels are visible on the left and right, while the top and bottom are standard.

MSI uses a screen made by AUO Optronics with the B156HAN02 series. This screen has a brightness level of 290 cd/m2 and sRGB 51%. The del E specification is by default at 4.4 and has increased to 3.7 after calibration. It’s just that we feel the brightness level feels less bright. This is seen when we set it to the maximum position, while when it is set to the lowest position, the screen looks very dark.

For high-definition multimedia use or playing games, this specification is quite comfortable. It’s just that it’s still not perfect for the needs of professional image editors who need high color accuracy and detail. But for gamers, it’s clearly sufficient for the needs of playing games or doing light editing.
