MPL Indonesia Season 3 Tournament
The biggest and also the most prestigious mobile game competition in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, namely Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia (MPL Indonesia), has now entered its third season. MET, a major organization managing esports tournaments in Asia, was appointed as the organizer of the competition.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang itself is currently one of the most popular games in Indonesia, which has around 30 million active monthly users.
With a total prize of US$120,000 or the equivalent of almost Rp1.7 billion, MPL Season 3 has attracted the attention of hundreds of teams to fight for the title of the best Mobile Legends team in Indonesia. The main round of MPL Season 3 will be participated by 12 of the best teams in Indonesia.
The six best teams in MPL Season 2 were entitled to a direct invitation to the main tournament. While the remaining six must be contested in the qualifying phase. Some of the best teams such as EVOS, RRQ, Louvre, and others will compete to be the best this year.
The MPL Season 3 qualification is divided into two phases. The first phase is the online qualification, where a maximum of 512 teams from all over Indonesia will compete with the best of one single elimination bracket concept until the round of 32. In the round of 32, the format of the match will be changed to best of three, but still with a single elimination bracket. The qualification stage will be carried out in an international standard studio.
The best eight teams from the online qualifiers are entitled to advance to the final qualifying phase. In this phase, the eight teams from the online qualifiers are waiting for the seventh and eighth ranked teams from MPL Season 2. The ten teams will be divided into two groups to compete in a best of three round robin format. A 2-0 win will give you three points, a 2-1 win will give you two points, while a 1-2 defeat will give you one point. The three best teams from each group are entitled to advance to the regular season main round.
The online qualification stage itself took place from January 9 to 13, 2021. The next stage is the final of the qualification which will be held on January 24 to 27, 2021. And the regular season will start on February 16 to March 31, 2021.
