Indonesia's Mobile Legends National Team Fails to Donate Gold at the 2021 SEA Games

The Indonesian Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) esports national team ended the 2021 SEA Games with an anti-climax. The appearance of Rekt et al, actually dominated since the group phase. But in the final they had to acknowledge the tenacity and toughness of the home team.

The Philippines has succeeded in making history as the first country to win the first MLBB gold medal at the SEA Games. They still appear calm even though the Indonesian team won first. In system best of five they managed to win with a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, the national team players strengthened by Gustian (Rekt), Muhammad Ridwan (Wann), Eko Julianto (Oura), Yurino Putra (Donkey), Teguh Iman Firdaus (Pyschoo), and Andriand Larsen (Drian) contributed silver medals for Indonesia. Many said they were unlucky. Because, this is their first defeat in the SEA Games. Unfortunately, it just happened in the final.

The national team has never lost during the Group B phase. In the group phase using the system best of two, Indonesia drew against the Philippines and won 2-0 over Thailand and Laos. The 7 points earned made Indonesia the winner of the group and entered the upper bracket. In the final round upper bracket, Indonesia beat Malaysia who won Group A with a convincing score, 2-0 without reply.

Indonesia is indeed the most favored for MLBB. Moreover, the final of the Mobile Legends M1 World Championship or the MLBB World Cup brought together two teams from Indonesia, filled with national team players. In that event Evos managed to become the champion.

Even so, Indonesia’s opportunity to gain gold from esports is still open. The Indonesian Arena of Valor (AOV) national team managed to advance to today’s final. Indonesia is still waiting for the match in lpower bracket between Thailand vs Vietnam. The final round will be held at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines.

AOV is an opportunity for Indonesia to gain gold. Because in other esports numbers, the Hearthstone, StarCraft 2, and DOTA2 national teams have died. That hope is now focused on the AOV Indonesia national team consisting of Gilang Dwi Fallah (LLAF), Hartanto (Pokka), Hartawan Muliadi (Wyvorz), Satria Adi Wiratama (Wiraww), and Farhan Akbari (Hanss).

Chances in Tekken 7 are also still open. Because the new game starts tomorrow (10/12). Indonesia hopes for M. Adriansyah Jusuf or better known as Meat.

For those who don’t know, Meat is a pro player with 12 years of experience. He has made Indonesia proud when he won the 2021 South East Asia Major in Singapore, the first winner of the 2021 Flash Vision Cup in Malaysia, and ranked 5th in the International Esports Federation (IESF) Taiwan 2021.
