Gamdias HEBE M1 RGB Review – Blink Blink Headset that is OK for Gaming and Multimedia
The Gamdias HEBE M1 RGB headset comes with several updated features that are widely applied to modern gaming headsets. Among other things, Virtual sound 7.1 that you can use customization via the default HERA software, a Remote Controller that can also be used to access several features, and the last one that sets it apart from the standard HEBE M1 version is the LED illumination in Red Green Blue colors.
Design, Build Quality and Finishing
HEBE M1 RGB comes with a classic design. Starting from the 360-degree rounded earcup design plus the mesh-hole area flanked by illumination stripes that glow colorful RGB LEDs, as well as an adjustable metal alloy headband on the top and leather-covered foam on the bottom for added comfort. A pair of Earcups with extra thickness dimensions successfully cover the 50mm diameter Driver unit.
But unfortunately, the review unit that we have, is not symmetrical in the left ear canal. Until there is a possibility, put a little unnecessary pressure on the left ear. Or is it on purpose? But it shouldn’t be like this. And we hope, this is only a single case, and does not happen to other retail units. In addition, the earcups on the HEBE M1 cannot be rotated to correct this situation without performing RMA.
Turning to the cable section, Gamdias HEBE M1 is equipped with a braided cable with a length of up to 2 meters. Interestingly, the long cable is covered again by a layer of flexible silicon-like material so that it is not difficult to roll this cable to be tied with the already available strep. The second strange thing we found was, on the packaging box it said a USB port with gold plated features. But what we found, only silver nickel type. The HEBE M1 RGB is equipped with a Remote Controller whose position is about 60cm from the base of the cable in the earcup area. A very strategic position for easy access to every button. On the remote control, you can find 5 buttons, two volume rockers up and down, a button to disable the mic, a button to control on-off LED illumination and a button to control on-off vibration on the earcups.
The build quality of the Gamdias HEBE M1 RGB hasn’t impressed us yet, except for the cable section earlier. Plus, the dove finishing on the outside of the earcups is so thin that it makes the impression of the plastic material so obvious. This slightly reduces the luxurious aura that has been presented by the RGB LED illumination. The mic is equipped with a noise canceling feature, the flexible unidirectional design is also very helpful for finding the best position we want because it can be bent by the collar we like.
Audio Quality
If the finishing is a little disappointing, it is different with the quality of the 50mm diameter driver used by the HEBE M1. We tested it by playing FPS games that were almost entirely filled with gunshots and explosions setups. These sounds are very real to our ears coupled with the vibration effect of each driver reproducing low frequencies. The vibrations spread to the cheeks so that sometimes it feels tingly. This headset, for information, seems to be specifically designed for maximum use in games with a gun war background. Seen from the presets available in the equalizer settings section, there is only the FPS option. A little advice, first setup virtual effects 7.1 to the position that you think is the most appropriate. You just play the volume to get the sensation of a battlefield. For some of the setups we tested, sometimes we misinterpreted the opponent’s position because the sound of gunfire was distracted by the virtual surround effect.
For listening to music, the HEBE M1 was quite able to impress us. With a little setup, we can easily get comfortable characters for each genre of music. But what’s even more enjoyable is when you use this HEBE M1 RGB to enjoy action movies. The sensation is even more wow when compared to when we used it to play FPS games.
As we all know, USB interface headsets must use a dedicated Audio Controller chip. For Gamdias HEBE M1 RGB, investigate using a chip made by C Media. But if you look in the device manager, it is detected as Gamdias USB Device only. C Media itself is a seasoned player in the realm of computer audio. Although his name has not been heard since Realtek HD monopolized the market for dedicated audio on motherboards, this is the first time we have rediscovered the work of C Media.
Conclusion
The choice of Gaming Headsets is increasingly diverse nowadays, it’s just a matter of how potential users prioritize their needs over their wants. For you FPS gamers, what Gamdias HEBE M1 RGB has to offer is perfect for your needs. Even to be invited to compete outside, the RGB illumination is guaranteed to make you more confident. With a price of around 950 thousand rupiah, the Gamdias HEBE M1 RGB is one of the headsets with almost complete features and is suitable for various gaming and multimedia needs. Interested?
