Can't Wait to Taste Android Nougat 7.0? Here's How To Download It

An enthusiast, who also happens to be an Android fan, may not be looking forward to getting Android Nougat 7.0. This is the latest version mobile OS made by Google that will replace Android Marshmallow. While Nougat isn’t likely to be released in the next few weeks, we know that OSes like Android are already giving life to many devices, from tablets to smartphones, to home apps like refrigerators and TVs.

But here we don’t mean to invite ordinary users to rush to download and install Nougat on Android-based smartphones. Android Nougat is currently only available in Beta Final Developer Preview. At the Google IO 2021 event, search engine giant Google announced that only interested people could register a device to try out the Android Nougat Beta Final Developer Preview.

The Preview version mentioned above is the last one before Android N 7.0 is actually released later this year. The Final Developer Preview Beta version comes with a number of bug fixes, performance improvements, and a number of new features. Indeed, it seems that there is still a long way to go until Android 7.0 Nougat is actually released in a stable version, but that version is the most stable and safest version to download.

Unfortunately, Google hints that only users of the latest Google Nexus devices, or owners of Huawei P9 or Sony Xperia Z3 smartphones can sample Android 7.0 Nougat Beta Final Developer Preview. Long story short, this version is not intended for ordinary smartphone users, but rather for application developers who want to ensure that their applications run smoothly on top of the platform Nougat 7.0. Ordinary users who have a device as mentioned above are still welcome to download Android N, but there are still a number of errors and bugs that will interfere with smartphone performance.

Still struggling to download and install Android N? Here are some things to do before and during installing the OS:

  1. Backup important data

What you have to do before downloading the Android N Beta Final version is to back up all the data on your phone. If it turns out that Android N is not working properly on your device, then the data that has been backed up before will help you return to the previous Android version.

Make sure that your phone has a back-up feature available in Settings > Backup & Reset. Make sure you tick the “Automatic restore” and “Backup my data” options.

2. Two Ways to Download Android N Final Beta version

Interested in downloading Android Nougat 7.0? Navigate your browser to the Android Beta site and select the “Enroll device” menu. Previously you will be asked to sign in to your Google account. And if your device is included in the list that can receive Android N, then the phone will receive the update via OTA (over the air).

There is another way by which you can download the update file manually, although the risk is much greater. Furthermore, the method will be much more complex and this also means that you will not receive automatic OS updates.

3. Go Back to Previous Android Version

You can do this if it turns out that Android N Beta Final is not satisfactory because there are too many bugs and errors that are felt. If this is selected, then return to the Android Beta Program website and click on the ‘Unenroll device’ section. An update window will open, which will then help you restore your Android to a stable version. It’s just that this process will delete all data on the device, so make sure you have a back-up of the data.
