Young Lex Accused of Plagiarizing Lay Exo in the Three Kingdoms: Legendary Hero Promo Video

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian rapper, Young Lex is again a hot topic of conversation among Indonesian netizens. The reason is, the rapper whose real name is Samuel Alexander Pieter is accused of imitating the video album “Lit” belonging to international musician Zhang Yixing or Lay EXO for the video for the song The Last King on his YouTube channel.

The video for the song was used to promote the mobile game Three Kingdoms: Legendary Hero. As a result, the names Young Lex and “Respect Zhang Yixing” became trending topics on Twitter due to this case. “Yixing has worked really hard to make Lit MV. the concept and cost he handled it himself and you didn’t respect him and said “kpop fans will say this is plagiarism” no you don’t say it, because it really is what it is,” wrote the Twitter account @skyntist.

As reported by Kompas, until Tuesday (9/3/2021) at 08:30 WIB, Zhang Yixing’s Respect hashtag topped Twitter’s trending and tweeted more than 127,000 tweets.

However, instead of apologizing, Young Lex actually satirized Indonesian netizens. “Micin-brained K-pop fans will say this is plagiarism,” Young Lex commented back on the video. Later, the comment was deleted by the 28-year-old rapper.

As a result, the video titled “Young Lex – The Last King (The Last King) | The official song for Three Kingdoms: Legendary Hero” actually received more dislikes than likes from Youtubers. monitoring until Tuesday (9/3/2021) at 14:15 WIB, this video received 24 thousand dislikes compared to 18 thousand likes.

For your information, Zhang Yixing or better known as LAY is a musician from China who is also a member of the boy band EXO. In the song Lit, he acts as a songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actor. This solo album itself was recorded in China and penetrated sales figures of up to 30 million Yuan (approximately Rp. 6.6 billion).

Fantastically, the sales record was realized in a short duration of 7 minutes and 19 seconds on QQ Music, May 29, 2021. This song also topped the iTunes top charts in several countries, including Indonesia.

Just a reminder, according to the KBBI itself, plagiarism means “taking other people’s writings (opinions and so on) and making them look like their own compositions (opinions and so on), for example publishing other people’s writings on their own behalf; copy”.

That is, if a creator wants to take part or all of another person’s work, it is very important to include the source or creator of the original work so that it does not fall into the “plagiarism” category.
