West Java Hospital Recorded Hundreds of Mentally Sick Children Due to Online Game Addiction

GAMEFINITY.ID, Singkawang – Gadgets have now become the main need of most people. But it seems that gadgets also bring bad effects for some people if they are addicted.

The Mental Hospital in West Java noted that hundreds of children were stressed and had mental disorders due to addiction to online games from their gadgets.

The data was revealed when the Deputy Governor of West Java visited a Mental Hospital in Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency last February. He came with the aim of visiting hundreds of patients who are addicted to these gadgets.

Throughout 2021, the West Java Hospital noted that there were around 104 patients who went for consultations to the Children’s Mental Health Clinic regarding mental problems due to online game addiction. It was confirmed that 4 people had pure mental disorders due to online games.

Director of the West Java Provincial Hospital, Elly Marliyani, explained that it is undeniable that life during this pandemic makes children busy with the gadgets they have. So there is a high possibility that children will become addicted to gadgets and online games.

Elly said that one of the symptoms caused by online game addiction is a change in children’s behavior. Mood changes include irritability, anger and boredom, disturbed sleep patterns and poor sleep quality, depression and anxiety and the risk of suicide.

“Other symptoms are seen in physical condition problems, poor general health conditions, poor nutrition, loss of friends in the real world, parental conflicts, and damaged learning productivity.Elly explained.
