Until February 11, Metro Last Light Redux and For the King are Free on Epic
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Epic Games is again giving away free games to its service users. This time, the free games that Epic shares are not just ordinary games, but Metro: Last Light Redux. Together with For the King, both games can be claimed from today until February 11, 2021.
Metro: Last Light is the second game in the Metro series starting with Metro 2033 (2005). The post-apocalyptic-themed FPS game received generally positive reviews from critics. Praise focused on the atmosphere, world design, tone, graphics, and gameplay. Epic’s now free version of Redux is a remastered version of Last Light, which was released in 2021.
Meanwhile, For the King, a game that combines strategy, combat and roguelike elements, can also be downloaded for free by Epic Games account owners. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, Halcyon 6: Lightspeed Edition will be the next game that will be free by Epic between February 11-18.
Epic, known as the developer of Fortnite, last week claimed the Epic Games Store has attracted more than 160 million PC users since its launch in December 2021. The company has routinely given away free games every week since the market launched, including 103 games in 2021 that are collectively worth 2,407 USD. Epic said the number of free downloads made was 749 million times.
The number of daily active users rose 192 percent to 31.3 million in 2021, with a peak of concurrent users reaching 13 million. The latest figures show a nearly doubled increase compared to 7 million in 2021. Monthly active users also reached 56 million in December 2021, up from 32 million in December 2021.
Epic Games Store customers spent more than 700 million USD last year, with third-party games accounting for 37 percent (265 million USD) of the total. The number of titles available on the Epic Games Store grew from 190 in 2021 to 471 in 2021, while total hours played rose 70 percent year-over-year, from 3.35 billion in 2021 to 5.70 billion in 2021.
“In 2021, we will rapidly expand the catalog of new games available on the Epic Games Store even further by providing developers with self-publishing tools for the EGS Platform. We’ll be releasing details on that particular plan soon,” Epic said.
