Composition

The key to epic results, one of which is composition. In Car Photography I have some suggestions, namely: Center Composition, Rule-Of-Thirds, The Rule Of The Horizon Line, S-Line, Depth-Of-Field.

The Car object is mostly right in the middle. Not a bit to the left/right, right in the middle. This composition is perfect for capturing the visual beauty of your car body.

This composition is based on a cut of 9 small squares from the entire photo, and your objects are placed from the ends of the cut. The simple thing is that you put your car object slightly to the left/right up and slightly to the left/right down. In my personal opinion, this composition is suitable to be applied when you want to take photos of your car while it is running.

The Rule Of The Horizon Line

This composition is a composition that is quite classic actually and has been around for a long time. Now in this composition you divide about 60-75% or if you want something more extreme you can divide about 75%-90% between the plains or the sky, it’s up to you which one you choose. This composition is suitable to be combined in almost all car-photography conditions.

As the name implies, if you see an object (such as a street for example) that is shaped almost like the letter S, this is a good fit. The human eye tends to like to see objects that are a bit tortuous but regular. In car-photography, in general, these objects are often found on the streets.

Of course, this is a favorite composition in almost all aspects of photography. The existence of this composition can form the impression of “Isolation” on the object being photographed, including the car you are photographing. That way the photos you produce will feel more “Stands-Out” or “Pop-Out” and don’t feel boring. This depth-of-field can be in the form of bokeh or motion blur.

Take a 50%-80% photo of the car body

This is very crucial in car-photography, here what you want to photograph is your car, the beauty of your car body so that it gives the impression to the audience that what you are photographing is your car and nothing else!

If you want to add dramatic spice to your car photos, it’s quite easy, input your opponent’s car during a race, add motion blur and implement a photographic composition.

Angle Camera

Don’t use the “Frog view” point of view in car photography, just from low angle to normal angle, and you can use “Birds view” if possible.

Lens

Never use a wide angle lens in car-photography, use normal to telephoto lenses. The reason is, the wide angle lens will sometimes distort the object of your car and will look strange and unnatural.
