Stop Fnatic's winning streak, BOOM claims third place in DPC 2021 SEA

Major tickets are not too far off if BOOM can maintain consistency.

Southeast Asia’s Upper League Regional League Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) continues to deliver some of the craziest and most incredible matches to create a compelling storyline in this first season of DPC.

After Neon Esports surprised by taking first place in the league after the first two weeks of running in a round-robin format, now it’s BOOM Esports’ turn to take center stage thanks to their fantastic win over SEA champions ‘Fnatic’.

Previously, BOOM was in fourth position with one win and one loss. Yesterday’s win over Fnatic pushed them into third in the League and opens the door to a possible top two finish if they continue to display the same synergy as they displayed in the second and third games against Fnatic.

They started the match by being defeated by Fnatic in the first game, it happened because Phantom Lancer from BOOM was successfully silenced with a series of disables. However, the defeat actually triggered the revival of BOOM, who played with a new carry, Andrew “Drew” Halim.

Entering the second game, they secured the Riki-Storm Spirit combo and continued to outperform Fnatic players who felt quite safe with the Earthshaker-Morphling combo and Enigma core. Basically all BOOM heroes are able to corner Fnatic from the start until they can finally balance the position to 1-1.

BOOM’s new carry, Drew, along with MMR 11K mid lane player Rafli Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman, once again shined in the final game of the series. With Troll Warlord and Mikoto on Queen of Pain, BOOM shut down Fanatic’s early attacks propped up by Lina and Void Spirit, allowing their team to match the tempo Fnatic was trying to set. Moreover, they turned all team-fights around to end Fnatic’s winning streak in the DPC League.

After this, Fnatic will have a full week to rest and prepare for their next match, while BOOM Esports will return to action today with a best-of-three series against T1.
