RNG acquires young star "God King"
Can the God King endure this formidable task?
Chinese esports organization Royal Never Give Up (RNG) has upgraded their Dota 2 roster by swapping offlaner Su “Flywin” Lei for young star Zhong “God King” Liushuai of Sparking Arrow Gaming (SAG).
In addition to acquiring God King, RNG also revealed that they would welcome back offlaner Sun “Srf” Runfa, who recently underwent trials for CDEC Gaming.
God King and Srf will replace Du “Monet” Peng and Liu “白 ” Yuhao, who left RNG to join Team Aster last month.
In addition to the roster changes, RNG has further strengthened its team by appointing veteran Wang “Banana” Jiao as their coach. The team started the year without a coach after Xie “Super” Junhao stepped down from his coaching role in favor of returning to playing at the end of 2021.
This new roster of RNG has centered around their new star God King. He will be supported by veteran players who have at least four years of professional experience.
God King became the center of attention after performing stunningly with SAG, he was even predicted as the best carry player in China this season. With God King, SAG started the year by dominating China’s Dota 2 Development League, winning Season 2 and 3 of the tournament by beating big teams like CDEC and IG Vitality.
SAG continued their impressive run by dominating the first season of the CDA League with a 7-2 record, including wins over top teams such as PSG.LGD, Aster and RNG. God King then led the squad to their biggest achievement of the season at the end of June in a 3-0 win over Vici Gaming and became champions of the BEYOND EPIC: China tournament.
