Riot Games Plans Valorant Tournament for Southeast Asian Universities!
Valorant has been gaining immense popularity in the Southeast Asia region, therefore, Riot Games Southeast Asia has announced that they have plans to hold a Valorant tournament for college level!
Because after a survey was conducted, it was found that the most Valorant players in Southeast Asia were found among youths who were still studying in college.
There will be 7 countries that are rumored to be participating in this tournament; Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.
Each partner of the college will work closely with each campus and also the university to organize tournaments for students.
Some of these partners are:
- Mineski Philippines for Philippine Esports
- AcadArena for campuses in the Philippines
- The Gaming Company for Esports in Malaysia and Singapore
- Professional Gamers League and Eliphant for Esports Singapore
- Talon for Hong Kong and Taiwan Esports
- ESL for Thai Esports
- Taiwan Mobile for Taiwan Esports
- One Up for Indonesian Esports
Valorant is a very new game and the esports scene is still growing slowly.
Indeed, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for Riot to hold official tournaments as all ongoing tournaments must be held online, and this limits the number of players who can join the tournament.
With not many tournaments progressing, some of the talented talents that haven’t been seen in Valorant haven’t even had their chance to show their form.
That’s why Chris Tran, head of esports from Riot Games Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong wanted to hold this series.
“Players have asked and we are happy to answer. In Southeast Asia, interest in VALORANT esports is huge and we are excited to partner with the region’s leading esports organization to introduce a new level of competitive gaming in the region.”
