Ragnarok M 2.0 Review: Eternal Love, New Server is More Exciting

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Gamers who have spent their time playing in internet cafes in the 2000s feel familiar with the MMORPG game, Ragnarok Online. Yes, you could say that this fantasy manhwa PC game became one of the most popular MMORPG games for gamers at that time, before the proliferation of MMORPG mobile games like today. The large and loyal RO community has mostly switched to the mobile game released in 2021, Ragnarok M: Eternal Love (ROM).

During nearly three years of this game’s release, a number of updates and content enhancements have been launched by Gravity Interactive, Inc., as a developer in order to maintain and expand its gamer community. The latest Ragnarok M: Eternal Love released the RO 2.0 update, which brings a lot of content, classes, maps, quests, and new features that add to the excitement in the game.

Gamefinity tries to review this game, especially from the latest RO 2.0 update. Overall, Ragnarok M: Eternal Love can indeed be said to have released the biggest update ever, which is certainly not to be missed by loyal Ragnarok fans. What’s the fun like? Check out the following discussion.

Gameplay (8/10)

For veteran MMORPG gamers, especially those who have played RO which was released in 2002, the gameplay of the ROM is actually quite simple and familiar. Players need to run a number of quests, talk to NPCs, kill monsters, and collect items to level up and earn Zeny (in-game currency).

In this discussion, we play the game on the newest server released on February 26, 2021, Memory of Faith. After selecting a class, players will be in Cryptura Academy. After successfully completing a number of initial quests (about 30 minutes), players can immediately reach Base Level 120! This certainly makes it easier for newbie players who are estimated to be able to directly reach T4 within 2 days and chase veteran players for approximately 21 days.

The majority of the quests we’ve managed so far have focused on collecting items and killing monsters. Ragnarok M: Eternal Love has a mission board that was not previously available in Ragnarok Online. Mission boards allow players to more easily explore the map and complete objectives.

The most distinguishing other of course the auto-attack feature. So if the player encounters an enemy, the character will immediately attack with a basic attack. This feature is very effective to help grinding levels, materials or items in the game.

Regarding grinding, ROM limits each player with a combat time (CT) mechanism of 150 minutes (previously 300 minutes). After the gamer uses the allocated combat time, the loot reward will decrease. Players can still add CT by listening to the Music Box located at Prontera South Gate. A number of quests also provide CT recovery rewards, with a maximum of CT per day that can be stacked up to 450 minutes.

Adventurers can also collect galleries (there is an in-game photography feature) which can be accessed in the Adventure handbook. Here the player can see what monsters have been killed and in the photo. Players can also get Eden Coin or Experience Adventure which can be used to access blue-print equipment by collecting NPCs, as well as photos of landmarks found in adventurers.

Another update presented in Update 2.0 is a new map, Eclage. This area is a fairy land located at the peak of Yggdrasil. Adventurers can also explore the Palace of Beauty using a new class, Ninja which combines sword-based and shuriken-based attacks with ninjutsu spells. Various new content in this latest update certainly makes the adventure more exciting.

Graph (9/10)

If you compare the PC version of Ragnarok, this mobile game has experienced a significant visual improvement, especially regarding more vibrant 3D. The graphics offered by Ragnarok Eternal Love are arguably already good for the size of an MMORPG mobile game.

The change also lies in the design of the User interface (UI) which is indeed more neat and balanced for the size of an online game. The game’s quest field is indeed quite space-consuming, but can be hidden and reactivated with just one tap. For each conversation itself, apart from being seen in word balloons, it will also be seen in the conversation column which is quite small and difficult to read.

But overall, the graphics offered are already maximized and become one of the advantages of the game. You could say this graphical improvement is one of the good jobs that developers have done, especially in the 2.0 update. Nostalgic impression with Ragnarok manhwa is presented with modern visual quality shown in Ragnarok M: Eternal Love.

Control (9/10)

For MMORPG veterans, the controls in the game are not too foreign. The game uses a tap (click) style of play to access communication, skills and attacks, with analogues for moving characters.

With a pretty neat UI, it’s quite flexible to access analog controls. Players can also take advantage of the perspective view in 2.5D and 3D, and adjust the camera perspective by tapping the character first.

With the auto-attack feature, players also don’t have to bother to stay steady during the fight. This makes it easier for players to grind, especially for players who play while doing other activities and often AFP.

Addictive (8/10)

Ragnarok M: Eternal Love is an open world game with a wealth of content that is quite deep. With the addition of new classes and maps and areas in each update, it seems gamers will never run out of adventure in the game.

Adventurers can choose a variety of jobs, manage build skills, grinding to leveling up characters to make it easier for gamers to explore the maps in Midgard. Some game mechanics are also adapted from the PC version of the game, so that the nostalgic impression for veteran players will immediately be felt.

In addition, ROM also often holds events that players should not miss. These events in addition to presenting rewards, can also offer gacha to get special items that players take advantage of. Most recently, update 2.0 also features a Special Crossover Event, Slayers Premium. Lina Inverse, Gourry Gabriev, and Zelgadis will arrive in Midgard to join the adventurers.

Conclusion

Nostalgic impression can not be released when playing this game. It is undeniable that the big name of Ragnarok is indeed a separate legacy from the PC version of the game, which is trying to be passed on to the game Ragnarok M: Eternal Love. But if you say this game is just a remastered or an update from its predecessor game, it’s also not correct, considering the number of new features and mechanisms offered in the game.

With satisfying graphics and a wealth of in-depth content, it seems this game is indeed worthy if it is relied on to revive the Ragnarok hype like in the 2000s era. Gamefinity gives the number 8.5 for this game.
