Overwatch collaborates with TimeSpeak

The Overwatch League has partnered with TeamSpeak on a new three-year contract starting in the 2021 season.

The deal will integrate TeamSpeak into the Overwatch League system to facilitate all in-game communication.

Ian Bamford, CEO of TeamSpeak discussed this partnership in a release: “Being chosen as the official voice supplier for the Overwatch League is a significant step in the growth and global adoption of our superior voice technology. We’re excited to set a new de facto standard for in-game communication, powering thousands of teams of professionals and aspiring professionals around the world.”

TeamSpeak will also be involved in global marketing initiatives at Overwatch League events throughout the season. One activation will give fans the chance to win tickets to branded events and prizes.

Pete Emminger, Vice President of Global Broadcast at Blizzard Entertainment also commented:

“In-game communication is critical, especially at a professional level where the stakes are high and latency, performance and fast interaction can make or break a team’s ability to win. As Overwatch League teams prepare to host matches worldwide starting in February, making TeamSpeak the official sound supplier for all Overwatch League matches will provide players with a high-quality soundboard.”

TeamSpeak also announced that they would be developing a digital solution specifically for the Overwatch League rather than the current, outdated analog on-stage system.
