Mobile Legends Development League Season 2, Opportunity for New Talents
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Over the years, Moonton has kept its commitment to continue developing the esports ecosystem in Indonesia. This is evident from how many tournaments and talent search events have been held for Mobile Legends fans in the country.
Through these events, a series of figures, both players and popular teams, were born who are now making Indonesia proud in the international arena. For example, EVOS Esports won the title in the international Mobile Legends tournament, M1. 2021 is no exception, although this year has been a tough year due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Moonton’s commitment to advancing the esports ecosystem does not stop. Some time ago we just saw the presence of MLBB All-Star, a place of appreciation and a gathering place for enthusiastic Mobile Legends fans, such as professional players, cosplayers, media, and Mobile Legends players in general.
It doesn’t stop there, various prestigious Mobile Legends tournaments continue to be held, such as the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) and also the Mobile Legends Development League (MDL) which will soon enter its second season. MDL is the second league from MPL, this tournament provides an opportunity for teams outside of MPL to show off their teeth and reap achievements through Mobile Legends. Despite being the second league, the attitude and professional nature in esports will still be upheld by MDL.
In addition to providing fresh air to the competitive Mobile Legends event in Indonesia, MDL is also held with the aim of finding new talented players who have the potential to compete in MPL in the future.
A total of 11 selected teams are confirmed to compete in the MDL for a total prize of more than USD 20 thousand or equivalent to IDR 300 million from August 10 to September 30, 2021 (regular season). The top teams that successfully gain points in the Regular Season round will advance to the next round, namely the MDL Playoffs for three days on 9, 10, and 11 October 2021.
“We are very excited to announce MDL for the Mobile Legends lover community in Indonesia. We hope that with this MDL, we can open wider opportunities for players to reap achievements as well as provide opportunities for teams currently competing in MPL to look for new talents that have the potential to fill the team roster in the future, “said Lucas Mao as Commissioner of MDL in Indonesia.
In the second season of MDL this time, there are five teams that have the potential to become a dark horse or surprise team. The five MDL teams include XCN BKB, RRQ Sena, Geek Fam Jr., Siren Esports, and Bigetron Bravo. They all have an equal chance of becoming the new MDL champion. Fauzianska “Golden Ranger” as a shoutcaster who has been presenting Mobile Legends matches for the past few years, gave his views on the chances of team battles in MDL Season 2.
“Actually, if you say there is no underdog or dark horse, yes, but if you predict the team that will go up, it must be Bigetron Bravo or RRQ Sena. Because yesterday we saw that RRQ Sena’s performance in one of the tournaments was very strong, even against MPL teams such as representatives of the Philippines,” said the Golden Ranger.
He estimates that RRQ Sena and Bigetron Bravo will at least make it to the MDL Season 2 Playoffs. Apart from these two teams, there is XCN BKB or Siren Esports, the reason for choosing the four of them is because of the performance and the roster of many players whose names are actually quite flashy like Warlord’s descent from Bigetron MPL to MDL.
“Most likely it will be dangerous for the teams in MDL. As for EVOS, I know there are Clover but haven’t seen any striking performance from them. Well, if Geek Fam Jr. in the previous few tournaments it was very ‘terrible’ but have not seen the consistency in the next match, “said the Golden Ranger.
Ranger Emas also believes that the MDL Season 2 event will run very fiercely. “It will definitely be fierce, not inferior to MPL especially the defending champion Victim Esports with their new roster. Will it be as great as last season or even with Mir Acl and BayMax actually making Victim Esports’ performance not as great as last season. There is no evidence that the two of them are able to fill each other’s positions, it’s natural because of their status as new players,” concluded the man who is familiarly called Oji.
Meanwhile, a different opinion actually came from Fahmi “Kornet”. If according to the Golden Ranger Bigetron Bravo to be a potential team, Kornet actually thinks that the one who will have the potential to become a scary team for MDL this second season is RRQ Sena.
“There may be many winning teams, like Victim Esports who won in MDL Season 1 or EVOS Esports who have a chance with talented players, but RRQ Sena deserves to be taken into account,” said Kornet.
Kornet added that even without Liam, RRQ Sena’s roster has talented and potential young players. Call it X Win, Albertt, and Skylar who are predicted to be MPL stars in the upcoming season. Don’t underestimate the names that are not yet well known, especially since RRQ Sena players are fairly new in the competitive realm.
“But with a winning spirit, especially in the RRQ culture, which has just won MPL Season 5. Of course, the RRQ Sena roster has an effort to marry the championship title with the MDL trophy,” said Kornet.
“The point is that MDL Season 2 will be exciting and fierce, almost all teams have the same chance of winning. Especially with the new names, of course the presence of MDL Season 2 has the potential to give birth to seeds of champion players in the coming season,” added Kornet regarding the excitement of MDL Season 2.
Despite inviting 8 teams through a franchise route, MDL still has the same excitement as MPL. Victim Esports who won the MDL Season 1 event was proof that the teams that came through the qualification route were able to compete with other opponents. MDL itself continues to take place in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic which is endemic in more than 200 countries, including Indonesia. There will be implementation of strict and measurable health protocols according to the recommendations of the Government and health experts in Indonesia.
All teams that competed themselves had locked their roster composition since 6 July. The 12 best teams will win the MDL Season 2 title, who will be the champion?
