Kominfo, LIPI and AGI Launch Indonesia Game Industry Ecosystem Map Book 2021

GAMEFINITY.ID, Purworejo – In recent years, the game industry in Indonesia has experienced a rapid increase, especially during a pandemic like this. We can see how many local games have appeared recently. This is in contrast to the Tourism and other Creative Economy industries, which actually declined during the pandemic.

In order to further understand and optimize the potential of the game industry in Indonesia, Kominfo together with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and the Indonesian Game Association (AGI) launched the digital book “Map of the Indonesian Game Industry Ecosystem 2021” last Thursday (22/4).

This book is the result of research conducted by LIPI with facilities from Kominfo involving 80 correspondents from game industry developers and publishers with various business scales.

“The purpose of compiling this report is to map the current condition of the game industry ecosystem in Indonesia, which can help identify the challenges and opportunities that exist in the current Indonesian gaming industry ecosystem,” said Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, Director General of Informatics Applications at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics in a statement. According to Director General Semuel, a good and deep understanding of the Indonesian game industry is needed to determine targeted initiatives and policies, including in overcoming various challenges such as strengthening human resources, improving the quality of education, to funding problems for local game industry players.

This book is expected to be able to answer questions from the Indonesian game industry players in managing the game industry so that they can compete with global players.

In Press conference According to the Chair of the LIPI Science and Technology Research Center for Policy and Management, Dudi Hidayat said that the Indonesian game industry is one of the sub-sectors of the creative industry with great potential, as evidenced by the large incomes of Indonesian game industry players obtained from the global market without being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. 19.

Later, the government’s role is also expected in accelerating the development of the game industry in the country so that the Indonesian game industry can continue to grow.

Meanwhile, according to Cipto Adiguno as Chairman of AGI, currently the Indonesian game industry is still in its early stages of growth despite its enormous economic value. A number of problems still need to be resolved from various aspects. This is the important role of the research data in this book in formulating an effective strategy and as a benchmark for the success of programs that will be carried out in the future.
